Red Chamber

Phoned to book table for two but got no answer. I received a phone call from them later in the day and booked a table. Really glad I did because the food and the service were both fantastic. The food was hot, delicious and there was plenty of it. Our waitress was attentive but not intrusive and very pleasant. We will definitely be returning again.

We ate-in and had takeaway from here a lot before Covid, for about 10 years, until it (presumably) changed hands and changed name to Long Sun. We then had a couple of not great takeaways so we changed to another takeaway. Having had some recent good reports from a friend we decided to take that friend here for a post-lockdown meal. We were quite happy with everything and we are likely to return again certainly for eat-in. The staff were all fast but friendly. Covid rules all being followed that we could see. The only disappointment was the fish in the Sweet and Sour Fish Fillet - we expected cod as that's what we'd had elsewhere, not sure what we got - apparently seabass but it was too strong a taste for sweet and sour we felt. Somewhat sad that Michael has was not there, as we got on well with him - I know some people thought he was grumpy but we just thought he was juggling a lot of balls and trying to make sure everyone had a great experience, and we had some nice conversation with him when he wasn't busy. Overall good to see the place back in full swing albeit minus the buffet option.

Fantastic food as ever. We have truly enjoyed visiting the Red Chamber for 16 years now, both as a couple, with friends and as part of larger celebration parties. Always happy with the place. Very little has changed about the place over the years, but that is a bonus not a negative. Generally the staff are genuinely very friendly and welcoming. The restaurant manager comes across as a bit detached but we find this to be all part of the local charm of the place. He is always very efficient but rarely smiles. Usually able to get a table at fairly short notice for small groups. Well with a visit and highly recommended.

We had a great meal here today, set price buffet, £8.50 is really good value for money! All the food was fresh and hot, great choice on menu! Just a shame there was only one other table eating! Highly recommended As an addition t this review, We had takeaway tonight (August 18) It was all excellent, nice hot, full of flavour, great value for money, as I said in my previous comments, highly recommended!!!

Visited here today with my husband after googling lunch places in Redditch as we were in the area and I'm so glad we did!! The food is amazing!! £8.50 all you can eat lunch menu cooked freshly to order. The waitress was very friendly and explained how the ordering worked. We tried a handful of traditional starters all were extremely tasty and then moved on to the mains which there were plenty to choose from. Our favourites had to be the chilli and salt squid to which I've never seen such golden batter with so much taste, my husband enjoyed the beef in oyster sauce and the beef in black bean sauce was also amazing. The staff are very attentive and the food comes out very hot and in good time. We enjoy Chinese food regularly but this is the best by far, 10/10 for food, service and price. We will most definantly be visiting again and recommending The Red Chamber to all our friends and family 😊 Thank you!
