We took our 5 month year old baby with us. From the ladies in reception to the team at the restaurant day and night
Nothing was too much, food was top notch and lovely rooms that went down well with prosecco.
Thank you so much can't fault this place

The setting of this hotel is lovely. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. Yes, some parts of the hotel are a little worn but overall we had an amazing experience.

We visited Ruthin Castle as a Spa Break and were blown away by the beautiful location and grounds with free roaming peacocks.
The spa was lovely, and the staff at the spa were fabulous, so friendly and welcoming! We thoroughly enjoyed the spa facilities, our mud rasul treatment, and our private hot tub in the beautiful woodland setting.
The castle is much bigger than it appears, and it has its charm. We were surprised to learn that King Charles III stayed at Ruthin Castle before his investiture as Prince Charles.
Unfortunately the hotel is shabby in places our room was located down a flight of stairs. It was here that peeling paint along the walls and dirty carpet were visible. Does require a little live & repair.
Our room was comfortable with a lively bathroom and a comfortable bed. Unfortunately, the walls are very thin, so conversations in the outside corridor can be clearly heard.
The lift wasn't working, which wasn't ideal with a suitcase.
I wouldn't recommend eating in the restaurant; we haven't had such disappointing food in a hotel for such a long time. I would recommend eating elsewhere.
My pizza was burnt on the bottom, which staff agreeably exchanged with fish & chips. Sadly, the supposedly thrice cooked chips were still very raw, and the battered fish was drenched in oil.
I didn't have the heart to return to the kitchen again, so ate, what I could. We hoped for a good breakfast, but it was lacklustre. The continental offering of pastries was a sparse affair with a few croissants and Welsh cakes, yogurts, and fruit compared to what you may expect in a similar hotel. However, we must say staff are very welcoming & friendly!
Staff throughout the hotel are very welcoming, and despite disappointing meals, we thoroughly enjoyed our spa break.

A stunning location and very interesting historic site. Hotel is a bit rustic and some areas could be updated, but for us that didn't take away from the charm. Our room was lovely. Would definitely return and spend longer exploring the area.

This place is absolutely beautiful and perfect for a weekend getaway, especially for friends or couples. We visited the spa when we were here and it was super relaxing and well worth the money. The rooms are very plain and standard but spotlessly clean and had everything you needed. The food was outstanding, and it would be worth visiting just for this alone. The staff could not do enough for us when we visited, and were so friendly and helpful. I would definitely come back here for a little longer next time.

800 year old castle with large, comfortable rooms. Needs a bit of TLC but it's a big place. Lovely spa with outside hot tubs. Food is very good when the full menu is available.

The hotel has no lift, so if you have mobility issues, swerve this one. Rooms were clean and tidy, but I'm not very keen on bathrooms in the bedrooms. So if you do go, ask for a bathroom in a separate room and, in my case, more importantly, a bathroom without mirrors all around the bath. Yuk ;-) Breakfast needs a bit more organization as they kept running out of coffee, sausage bacon, etc, as the kitchen is away from the breakfast room.

An amazing experience! Staying in an 800 year old castle site was so special. Made more special by the great team there. Food was exceptional and the rooms made us feel like a king and queen!
Some of the rooms are awaiting a bit of love, but with such a huge area and listed building to keep on top of, any defects are shown in the price. If you have to have a perfect room, pay for the more expensive rooms. We were on a working trip so had to take the budget room, but it was still incredible to stay in such an amazing building. Just be aware there will be noticeable wear and tare that needs attending to, this is reflected in the price and is in the system to be looked at asap, as I asked the brilliant general manager during our stay. Regardless of a few flakey painted areas and a very outdated bathroom, everything was clean, tidy and thought about well.
We wish all the team the best moving into the future and will definitely be back for a holiday at some point in the future!

Outstanding stay here, we had a suite and it was beautiful. Spotless rooms, excellent shower and views out of our windows were spectacular. Staff at every stage were lovely and so helpful. We brought our little dog and she was made a fuss if and given treats so she was thrilled. The castle is old but has lots of character and charm. Grounds are beautiful to look round. Can’t wait to come back

We called in to the Tafarn bar with our puppy for a drink and had a great time.
The staff were very friendly and the bar area had a great atmosphere and the drinks were good quality.
The grounds are beautiful with free roaming peacocks and lovely views.
A real gem of a place in the heart of beautiful Ruthin.
