Driftwood Beach Bar N Grill

I often fly into Sandown Airport and walk into Sandown for lunch at the Driftwood. Always friendly staff and whilst there is sometimes a bit of a wait, as it is so popular, the food is always great (especially their fish and chips). A real gem with lovely holiday atmosphere to enjoy a drink and food overlooking the beach.

Arrived as they opened for lunch today with a toddler and dog, very friendly staff found us somewhere sheltered in the heat, made a fuss of both the dog and our 18month old. The view and setting is great. The food is not your usual beach bar chips and burger for a fiver rubbish (see some of the other reviews moaning about price) so the food is a little more expensive but It’s a proper restaurant, and I would pay their prices for the food that was delivered….Mussels were massive and tasty best I’ve had in the UK. Wife had one of their fresh home made pizzas 🍕equally as good 👍 (I didn’t take any pics of the food as it didn’t last long and I didn’t want to pick my phone up either!) And finally corona on tap what more could you want 🤷🏻‍♂️ Thanks for making us feel welcome and for a lovely lunch 👍

Such a beautiful setting right in the beach. Went on Bank Holiday Monday, were seated quickly and lots of safety measures in place. The staff were very friendly and worked extremely hard. We were made aware there was a wait on food upon arrival but with the beautiful weather we weren't surprised. The food was great and definitely worth the wait. We will be back again.

I read reviews for this place while waitng for my order to be delivered and was suprised at what people complain about. For example 2 people wanting to sit at a 4 person table 🤦‍♂️it's a small place and seating is limited so I understand why the management won't do it. Make them pay double if they insist. Nice food, the service was pleasant the waitress we had was cheerfull. Slightly priced for the food but only slightly. The place was clean and tidy and up together has a nice rustic wood feel as the name suggests. Had to pay for the food before hand but I am guessing with the design of the place people have eaten and ran without paying the bill. The layout of the place would make it easy to do. Gave a 4 star rating as a few things stopped me putting a 5 star. Things that would give a 5 star would be 2 minutes after getting the food the staff check and make sure everything was OK and also ask when bringing food if they would like another drink?. (lost sales revenue there) as I would have said yes to another drink.
