Harpers British Classics

OMG!!!! Where do I start? Right, here goes.... I am the most awkward and picky person when it comes to food. I mean, I eat cheese and onion crisps, but I won't eat onions. I also love strawberry 🍓 milkshake, but I won't put a strawberry in my mouth. You get the idea. While Christmas shopping in Meadowhall, Sheffield, yesterday, we ended up in the Food Quarter looking for lunch. We seen Harpers British Classics selling good ol' English food and my wife and I made a beeline for the counter. The choice was amazing. The food was amazing. Cooked to perfection. Inexpensive with a choice of veg, pies, potatoes, etc... My wife is also a tad picky (not as bad as me), but both she and I absolutely cleared our plates. Top notch grub, English style,without top notch prices. Lovely staff. Top marks. Shame on anyone having put a lower review than 5 stars (although they are entitled to do so). All the food is pre-cooked and on show right behind glass panels, so you can see what you're buying. We paid around £15 for pie, peas, yorkshire pud, gravy, mash/chips (x2) and it was heavenly. Served piping hot. No photos, unfortunately. I was enjoying my meal so much.

Recommend Toad in the Hole. Sausages red hot, gravy red hot...lovely. Vegetables could have been hotter. Portion was very nice...man size. Quality wasn't bad for our first time visit. Vegetables let it down by one star. One to definitely revisit in the future. Lady behind the counter was friendly. Wife couldn't finish so I had to adopt the motto "Leave no Yorkie behind!...."
