Really great lunch, very accommodating, myself, wife and 2 young kids. Couldn't fault the service.
Was concerned it might be, "a local pub for local people" and we'd feel unwelcome, but it was so far from that! All staff were so welcoming, food was fab and all reasonably priced!
Will definitely return!
What can I say. Fantastic welcome. Amazing service. Food was absolutely delicious (compliments to the chef). We had 3 roast dinners (lamb) and The Rose & Crown burger. This is a beautiful pub in the most beautiful surroundings. We will most definitely come back (and soon).
It's many years since I'd visited this pub, but we'd driven past quite a lot lately, so decided to drop in for lunch. There was a very friendly greeting, and we were offered the choice of outside, or in the restaurant (we opted for the latter).
Service was prompt, and the drinks came quickly, but we were surprised how long the food was coming. That was because it was all (except the meat in my friend's beef and beer pie, apparently braised for six hours) cooked from scratch, and it was well worth the wait. Her beef, she said, melted in her mouth, and it had the most gorgeous puff pastry crust. My Hunter's chicken was also excellent.
My one complaint (!) was that neither of us could quite finish the food, and we had no room for a dessert!
We'll be going again.

We held the reception after my father’s funeral at the Rose & Crown. It was well organised and well catered for. Paul did a great job beforehand in communicating with us and ensuring our guests were looked after. You never know how many people will show for a wake, and in spite more people coming than was anticipated, there was no shortage of food. Thanks for helping us give our dad a great send off!
Visited for a late lunch. When we arrived we were greeted by a pleasant gent who guided us to a table & took our drinks order. We chose soup of the day (cream of veg) & a filled baguette 🥖 each. The soup was served nice & hot & it was delicious. The baguettes were served with salad & a few chips, both were stuffed with filliing. We washed lunch down with a nice pint of shandy.
Overall, a lovely place, good staff & most of all the food was excellent. Recommended
