The village of Slaidburn is in a beautiful and peaceful part of Lancashire. The Hark to Bounty sits in the heart of the village and has a long history of importance here. We stayed one night and this was a real treat. The building has plenty of features including wooden beams and eclectic dispays in the bar. The staff are all friendly and helpful. Our room was comfortable and functional, although expect a 1970s style bathroom with carpet and a shower over the bath. This is not a boutique hotel! We had towels and small tubes of shower gel and shampoo. The bedroom was fine, although the carpet was showing its age. We had a kettle, mugs and tea and coffee and a TV. The room was above the bar and we could hear customers until closing time at 23.00, then it was quiet, although as it was haymaking time farm vehicles were still passing later. The food was hearty and reasonably priced. There were two vegetarian options on the menu (no vegan option) and we had one each. They were both tasty and just what we needed after a long walk. Breakfast was basic but enough. There were no vegetarian sausages but we were happy with eggs on toast. Vegans could have had beans on toast. We also had packed lunches and the cheese on the sandwiches was very generous and gave us a good amount of energy for our long walk the next day.
Called in for a pint but were tempted by the menu. We both settled for the Lattice Lancashire pie.... Leek, potato and cheese with salad. It was delicious and the portion size was huge 😋. The beer was great as well. I tried the gluten free, which tasted great. It was nice to see the place bustling again
Great staff, very helpful and have gluten free beer too. Didn't eat just had some very pleasant beers.
Wonderful pub, full of character, and hasn't been modernised to death. Lovely pint of Lancaster Blonde and superb homemade food...Steak and Ale Pie is just delicious ! A regular stop when we're in Bowland.
Proper home made made food, generous portions, scrumptious, friendly staff, oldie worldie roaring fires in the snug and bar reasonable prices
Arriving alone after a long day cycling I popped in here while waiting for the youth hostel over the road to open. Little did I know just how much this place would go to my heart. Immediately the landlady's big smile and welcome made me feel welcome. I was instantly made to feel like a local. Nothing too much trouble. The cask beer is in outstanding form. Later that evening I returned for Pork Loin and black pudding covered in bacon wow!!. It was that good I returned for a hearty breakfast and on the Friday night, an incredible fish Friday deal. Oh and on one night, there was a brass band playing! Everything is very reasonably priced and of a high standard. Great staff, great old building. A must visit.
Very welcoming and friendly pub. Huge portions of very good value food. Kids were well catered for too.
