Come here quite regularly, never been disappointed. Rarely a long wait, food is usually cooked to order and portion sizes are generous. Service with a smile, always aim to go here if I fancy chips.
Great chippy. Friendly, family run business. Good sized portions and great food.
Not as good as it used to be, batter was quite thick but last time it was light and fish was flaky
Highly recommend this chippy. Catered for our quiz night (37 people) on Saturday. Food was ready on time, hot and I had so many comments about how good the fish and chips were! Big thank you to the team at St James Fish Bar.
Great place to go and get fish and chips. Good quality, didn't find it too greasy. Staff very friendly and chatty. Good portion sizes. The wait can be a little long as it's very popular. Definitely would recommend!
Great fish and chips, warning you get lots of chips. So a large chips is a large chips.
Newly refitted and new owners. Glad to say still one of the best chip shops in the area.
They do a gluten free menu! We are so happy about this and our coeliac son happily had fish and chips without any ill effect. All chips are cooked in a gluten free fryer and there is a gluten free menu for other items too. Well done St James Fish Bar! We’ll definitely be back!
One of the best fish and chips (and saveloy) that we've ever had, lovely tasty batter on the fish, great chips and a perfect saveloy (not dry or sat in salt water for hours as we've had at other places). Also great value for money. No other fish and chips place in Soton even comes close. We've found a new favourite takeaway.
It was the 1st time I've purchased Fish and Chips from this chippy and I have to say I was very impressed. I did read all the reviews 1st and they were right. Clean, masks worn, fresh fish and chips, they give you large portions and chips lovely and yellow not oily or black bits. Highly recommend, will definitely go back 🙂
