Benito's Hat

We love Mexican food and nothing warms one up as quickly as spicy food. It is good value for money, I love the idea that you eat with your hands, but I would like wipes or a waterbowl to clean your hands before and after a meal. We had the tacos with al the "trimmings" and next time I'll rather take a burito just because it's easier to contain the filling.

Enjoyed an evening dinner here with my partner last night. Great to see two different veggie options, especially considering many of the alternative burrito spaces offer very little in the way of plant based meat options. Main feedback would be that it wouldn't hurt to expand the menu to include more Mexican staples but this should not dissuade anyone from visiting this cheap and cheerful restaurant.

To all the people that love TexMex food just like me tonight i have been with a couples of friends to Bonito's Cartel restaurant in St.Albans and the food was really tasty and very big portions we couldn't tried the dessert as we were full. But definitely next time ill be there ill try the pudds. as well. Also the service was fantastic Philipe made a very special evening he is a great person very friendly and helpful. Music was great i love the Latin music so it has been a great evening spent in a magic place were good food, great atmosphere and fantastic people meet in one place " Benito's Cartel"... Thank you Philipe 😉👍

Self-service burritos (like Tortilla or Bar Burrito). Regular sized burritos are pretty huge and served with tortilla chips - mine was £6.60 for a vegetable burrito so a pretty cheap meal! Also got the Nachos Grande which was decent and served to us at the table. Newly opened so the staff don't yet operate at the level of ruthless efficiency seen in the bigger chains, but they were all friendly and one even came round to check how everything was, which you never see at fast food places like this!

Wandered in to the newly opened Benito's Hat. It seemed full, I asked for a table for 2 and was told it was closed for a welcome the neighbours function. Nevertheless, we were invited to take a seat and served some delicious food, which was washed down with some margaritas and red wine. The wine list is uncomplicated, red or white! The red is merlot, not my favourite, but quite acceptable and only £18 a bottle. I love the food ordering system: "Order at the counter. Eat with your fingers!. A lovely evening and great to meet the enthusiastic team, Mike, Mena, Felipe and Sandra! Another restaurant I'll be using often!
