Mack's Pie & Mash

Tried Stevenage Old Town shop a while ago and was disappointed to see that it had closed. Now open in Stevenage indoor market, probably in a catchment which will appreciate this fayre. I do value the owners determination in not giving up. Good quality pies with plenty of filling, nice mash and thick liquor rich in parsley flavour. Chilli vinegar was just right. Manze's in TBR is my favourite but I'm glad this is a short journey from home. A positive post also left on the PML Appreciation Society

Ignore the review from Susan Flynn, Mack's is an amazing place for pie and mash, and the owners are lovely to deal with. They've only ever been friendly and helpful (even letting me buy a couple of frozen pies off them before they've even opened for the day). Shame people have to try and ruin a good business by leaving fake reviews. Extremely glad they've reopened!!

Moved away from East London, knowing that we would no longer be near our favourite Robin's Pie and Mash shop in Romford. Was hoping to find a Pie and Mash shop near us now we are in Knebworth, and came across Mack's, but unfortunately we could only try it once as they were soon to close the next week :( Very unfortunate but hope you make a come back!!!!

Popped in today as I love Pie and Mash . It's just off the High Street about 20 yards up a side road . The lady serving was happy , polite and friendly . The restaurant was clean and tidy with lots of clean matching cutlery . I ordered the normal mince pie with mash and the portions were ample with 2 scoops of mash and all covered in liquor . All good so far , then the wheels start to come off . The mash was nice and fluffy , the pastry was very good and I had the right amount of liquor . Problem is with the taste , the pie was so bland and tasteless , such a shame , I was so disappointed . It's definitely missing something maybe some spice in the pie mixture might help . I'm gutted really , I thought I'd found a hidden gem . I hope the owner reads this and tries to improve the taste .

Popped into Macks a couple of nights ago with colleagues starving after just having had dinner whilst staying at a local hotel !! We really enjoyed the whole experience. The staff were friendly and welcoming, the restaurant really clean and most of all the food first class with decent portions and most of all affordable. Proper food as it should be well done !!
