From battered fish with chunky chips and fresh mushy garden peas to Swordfish with pomegranate and cous cous. Even steak for those odd people who turn their beaks up at fish!
The Easy Fish Co. lies at the rear of the businesses fish shop in the heart of Heaton Moor. An open kitchen with a small, busy pass adds to the overall ambience.
The atmosphere was vibrant - complimenting the food.
The salt and pepper squid appetiser went down really well as did my Mackerel fillets with coconut rice and chilli pickled veg for main. Fresh, light and full of flavour. Not a bone in sight!
Service was proficient and friendly, and on the one occasion that it appeared a little slow due to a sudden influx of new diners the delay was acknowledged by our waiter, offered his apologies before we had really realised that there had been a delay in the first place.
A good range of wines - the Gavi Conchetta from Piemonte was spot on - dry enough to cut through the oily fish yet with sufficient flavour and nose to leave ample notes too.
Mains c£15-20. Wine c £15-35.
A thoroughly enjoyable evening - will certainly return.
Just got back home after having a wonderful meal thank you so much, it can only be described as perfection on a plate. The staff were friendly and attentive the chefs were first class, and in my opinion this is the best seafood restaurant around, I would highly recommend it.
Perfect Fish and Chips!!
We came here for my friend’s birthday and had a brilliant night. The service was fantastic and the food was delicious. We each had a different starter and main and we all loved them all. I had the fish and chips; the batter just melted in the mouth and the mushy peas were lovely. Some of the nicest fish and chips I’ve ever had! We all shared a dessert board, which was a real treat and just enough. I can’t recommend this place more highly (if you like fish, of course!).
There’s nothing fishy about restaurants in Manchester… by that, I mean that since Sole cast away its nets and became burger slinging SoLita and Livebait died, there has been no dedicated fish restaurant of note. A while back (at least 2 or 3 years), The Easy Fish Co. in Heaton Moor opened a small café in the back of their fishmongers (which my brother in law has been telling me to check out); then, at the end of last year, they have extended the number of covers and opening hours to finally give Manchester a “proper” fish restaurant. Not only is it a proper fish restaurant… it’s a proper good one too! My main of Roasted cod with smoked Applewood & bacon hash , served with silver skin onions and a red wine sauce was an imaginative dish, beautifully cooked with well balanced flavours. The same could be said of the Salmon scotch egg starter. With my love of all things pickled, the ‘ Pickled Board ’ was delightful. I’d have liked it if the cucumber strips had been pickled too but the sweet pickled herring was so, so good that I’ve not stopped thinking about it since. What I liked about is were the simple things done well – good Whitebait , well presented; Oysters served with classic accompaniments and a subtle horseradish crème fraiche for those wanting something a little different.
Me and my wife shared this platter and also some garlic bread. The mussels that came with the platter this time were not as good as they usually are. However the platter is excellent.
We have been coming here since it opened, behind the fish counter.
I highly recommend the food though I was disappointed when the fish platter starter became a fish and vegetables platter and we we’re paying a high price for veg in tempura with an absence of prawns and squid.
My better half recommends the Sea Bass. I would always opt for the Haddock and Chips.
I do suggest they consider a blackboard option of their fish (in the fridge) and serve with vegetables and spuds - It would be a great way of clearing the decks of fish unsold in the shop.
Lovely food. Service was a bit fast to take the plates 🤬
Excellent in every way! The food is always amazing and the service is laid back, friendly and refined, exactly as you'd want. A small neighbourhood restaurant, with a feel good vibe and open kitchen. Can highly recommend. Wonderful!
Excellently cooked, beautiful presentation, great service and great vibes!
We got the roasted turbot and satay monkfish. Tigers prawns were also great just no photo sorry
This place serves 2 roles. A fantastic fishmongers and a very high quality restaurant. Went for the lunch menu recently which was well priced and tasted great. The food was very well presented and served really well. The staff are friendly and they really went out the way for my 2 year old. (Managed to get him gravy for his chips even tho they don't have any!)
Highly recommend a visit.
The Easy Fish Co. Serve delicious, fresh and beautifully prepared sea food. There is a variety of good choices on the menu which are always supplemented by daily specials. If you enjoy eating seafood which has been skilfully cooked you must try eating here as soon as you can.
It is only a small restaurant so make sure you book.
The lunch menu and the main menu are very good as there’s a variety to choose from. The shell sharer platter was spot on with all of the different seafood having flavour. Everything tasted fresh and cooked well. Customer service was very good
Very good idea and something you don’t see often is having the fresh seafood literally to hand!!
Can’t wait to go again
We had a lovely meal here this weekend. The service and timing were excellent. The food was on the whole excellent also. Only one suggestion: I had the prawn and squid platter at £26 as a bit of a treat. It wasn't clear from the menu that this was all deep fried however. I was hoping for some fresh prawns and squid (maybe grilled?) but was left feeling over-faced with the grease of the deep fry.
that said, the prawns and the squid were both fresh tasting and the accompaniments were superb.
everything else served was flawless and utterly delicious (....the moroccan monkfish, seared sesame tuna and salmon tartare - all highly recommended!).
Thanks for a good night.
Tried for the first time last weekend and have to say, great food and friendly staff...
We were also told that because the lobsters were smaller the prices were less, which was great to hear so ordered a full one.
Just wanted more... :)
