Southern Fried Chicken

So sad this place is closing down (according to a poster in their window I saw today). Used to have incredible chicken burgers with mayo and gorgeous chips, incredible gravy and delicious hot wings from here as a kid. In recent days, the food just isn't as nice, sadly. I'll always remember this place as great memories of my childhood.

If fried chicken is an art form, then Southern Fried Chicken in Hazel Grove is everything from Leonardo Da Vinci to the Rolling Stones. Delicate pieces of chicken, coated perfectly, slip one by one into a box - oh and what a box - alongside a waterfall of fries, fries like you’ve never seen them - crispy; golden; potato-forward pieces of heaven. You stare into the deep fryer - its oil bubbling, inviting you, whispering towards you, asking you to order a crispy fried chicken sandwich to complete this creation, this new wonder of the world. The chicken artist smiles as he performs this dance of deliciousness, perhaps unaware he is serving one of God’s purest creations. Perhaps he is God. You lift your eyes from admiring and interpreting the artistic endeavour behind the floor tiling and meet gazes with Him briefly. In that split second everything becomes clear - your body remains at a chicken shop on the A6 but your spirit is standing alongside Him at the entrance to Heaven. For a moment, you will understand the meaning behind our existence. - Nah I’m kidding, but it’s pretty decent fried chicken and it’s cheap as chips. Hot wings are really good. Plus sometimes they give you extra fries. 5/5.

The best fast food restaurant in the north, which has been established here for quite some time, I’ve been coming here for years! , Great chicken breast burgers, or chicken buckets, and delicious hot wings. Full-body flavoured food, and it’s always fresh food daily, very clean and pleasant staff members. 5/5 on all aspects. Go in and enjoy your food, I’m sure you’ll go back again and again. Cheers SFC!!
