The food let it down a bit but the atmosphere and staff were lovely

Lovely food, beer and service. Mandy and Pauline great hosts. Fantastic country pub with a great beer garden for eating outside. Cash only but as long as you know not a problem.

Yummy pint of Sam Smiths after an afternoon stroll from Tadcaster, well worth a visit! Proper Sammy's welcome and expert service, cheers!

We haven't been able to get together as a group for the last two years and so we're delighted to have had our first reunion over Sunday lunch at the Hare & Hounds in Stutton.
Excellent choice it was too - we were made very welcome by all the bar and kitchen team and enjoyed excellent range of Pork, Turkey and Beef roasts all washed down with traditional Sam Smiths beers. Who knew that three hours could pass so convivially?
Many thanks to everyone concerned and we look forward to meeting up again in summer when hopefully we will be able to use the delightful gardens.

Great Sam Smith's pub with lots of charm and character.
Food was good & the beer spot on. Great for a visit if doing a walk from Tadcaster.

Called in this pub after doing a local walk from an old pub walks book. A very old stone building. Really authentic, exposed stone interior, open fires and good quality old style furniture and nice wood paneling on bar. Very tidy inside. Had lunch which was standard pub grub but very nice, very hot, nicely presented and reasonably priced. I had the gammon and when I asked for mustard they gave me colmans - what a great result, the number of pubs that provide silly little packets of heinze is disappointing, well done hare and hounds as colmans makes the meal for me. Also a Sam smiths pub. Worth a visit and I would return if in the area.

Lovely country pub, visited on a Monday evening so fairly quiet but a warm welcome from the landlord considering we were not local. Excellent local bitter and very good food. A hidden gem!
