Went in with my daughter just yesterday, very nice food and service, I'm just surprised it isn't busier, will be making the effort to walk 2 mins from the town centre down east reach more often to come here, great food at good prices.

Amazing fish & chips 🤩
The second time I have ordered from Smilies Plaice, food was delivered due to short term enforced post surgery restrictions.
Food is as fresh as it was bought in the shop itself, simply beautiful, I also love the lemon garnish that accompanies it too.

So, this place is as good as Squires in Braunton which was my local.
Who cares about that I hear you ask?
Well they had a Multi-Awarded Best British Fish & Chip Shop. The awards are probably still on the wall down there in Devon 🤷🏼♂️

Great place for Chips (plus huge selection of thi gs to go with them!) Had jumbo sausage on many occasions with curry sauce. Had friends whom.had fish and said it was very good..

OK, it's a fish and chip shop with sit down eating, if you want it.
We stopped and ate our fish and chips off plates, and very nice fish and chips they were too. I'd highly recommend you wander up here from the town centre. It will only take you 5 minutes and you'll be fed and watered for the same price as a few coffees from the town centre chains.

Sat inside, mouth-watering, knowing that I will get a great tasting takeaway with ample portions. Usually go with chicken breast and chips, but tonight having fish and chips - tempted away from my staple by a cheeky portion from one of my wife’s takeaways. The staff are always friendly and welcoming, they know my preference, and confirm that I only want salt and no vinegar. I take my order, wrapped in paper, to the car for the five-minute journey home.
I like good quality coleslaw as a side. So, When I get home, I start by putting the side on my plate. The fish is too long to fit on the plate, so I need to cut it in half and lay it around the coleslaw. Then I add about half the chips and my plate is full.
The batter of the fish is crisp with just a little of the oil from being fried keeping it moist. It has a gorgeous flavour and the coleslaw I have added is a perfect compliment to both the fish and the chips. Eating off of a tray on my lap and watching a good film. Food finished, plate clean, stomach full – never disappointed.
