Small World Tapas

What a wonderful little place! Only in Torquay for 2 weeks but definitely want to go back. Service was great, helpful and friendly, and the food was just fantastic. Some really interesting and interactive dishes as well, such as the edible book and mystery dessert both of which are well worth trying. Excellent.

Absolutely out of this world. This is the best food I've had in years. It is the best brisket I've ever had, tender and delicious. We ordered a variety of dishes and everything was packed with flavour. The prawns are big and perfectly prepared with a delicious sauce. I would highly recommend Small World Tappas for anyone looking for a perfect meal. The staff are awesome and the Chef is on top of his game. I think Gordon Ramsey has met his match. I will definitely go there again when I'm in Torquay. Support this lovely family restaurant, you won't regret it.

We had a great experience here! The staff were great from when we got there until we left, and explained a little about the food. The food was amazing, we literally ordered every vegan item on the menu and they were great! The bread bag and the tempura aubergine with molasses were my favourite. We did consume quite a lot of sangria, but it just added to the meal, we all left very happy and full. I literally can't fault it at all. We did order the chilli roulette but I would say this is more of a fun game/food if you went with a large group or someone that hadn't been before. The bread bag was so nice and flavourful that we ordered more at the end of our meal! They were so good with the veggie and vegan requirements, so much so that the veggies ordered aoili but they came back and asked if we wanted it vegan as we didn't even know it was an option to make it vegan so that made everyone in the group happy; very attentive/observant staff! I would say very reasonably priced too! I think it worked out about £20 per person for food (excluding drink) I can't wait to go back, we'll be returning often, as long as there is a new dish every now and then we'd be happy! 5 star well deserved!

My fiancé and I visited small world tapas Friday night for dinner, and what a wonderful evening! The reviews don’t do it justice, the staff are so attentive, fun and incredibly kind, they showed us the best customer service I’ve ever seen from a restaurant. The food was delicious, the chefs demonstrated culinary excellence with a variety of rich and indulgent flavours, the portions were generous whilst maintaining a fantastic amount of flavour and cooked to perfection! I particularly enjoyed the scallops and beef brisket, if you are visiting I suggest getting both! (Pictures attached to review). To conclude this review I will say this is a wonderful place to go and cannot wait to return to Torquay to come again! We wanted to go back Sunday but they were closed until this evening which is a shame as today we are returning home, thank you all at small world, you made it such a wonderful experience.

Transcendent experience. This place really goes above and beyond in its food, service, and atmosphere. Sarah, our waitress, was professional and engaging. She got you excited about the food. The food itself was amazing. Expertly crafted, thoughtful, and delicious. We ordered five dishes: 1. Molassas glazed aubergine - it reminded me of a japanese tempura but the aubergine was sliced into thin chips and the batter was thicker, they were like heavenly fries coupled with a tangy sweetness. 2. Stuffed courgette flowers - we have to order these whenever we see them on a menu. So delicate, crisp batter with a cream cheese filling. Could have done with slightly more salt but the juicy tenderness of the courgette was there. 3. Sweet potato and coconut curry - served inside the coconut shell, and with fresh coconut on top, the curry had a rich deepness to its sauce and lovely textures from the vegetables and rice. 4. Miso glazed ribs - I ordered this because it looked mouth-watering on other people's tables. The sauce was superb. However, the meat was a tad dry. You can go really deep down the rib rabbit hole in preparation and cooking methods and since this isn't a bbq joint I'll give them a pass. If I was to go again I'd order the skewers or meatballs or pork bites instead. 5. 50/50 squid - a great idea to combine squid cooked two ways, drizzled with oil and dotted with garlic mayo crispy, juicy, brilliant. The serving sizes were also surprisingly large for tapas. We took another meals worth home in takeaway. Come hungry!

What a lovely restaurant. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The Chef certainly knows his craft. I had the wonderful Red Shrimps in Garlic sauce along with chorizo cooked in honey. Both were cooked to perfection. Followed by the Egg Box. In this is a desert with 5 mystery flavours. I managed to get 2 and a half correct. Sorry no clues, you'll have to try it for yourself!! Recommended, we will definitely be returning.
