The Beach Shack is a jem amongst a very special hidden Cove. An amazing place, whatever the weather but especially when the sun is shining. Andy and his staff offer quality food with a great view across the Cove. Specialties are Crab Salad and also Crab Soup (with a spicey twist). If you are in the area and enjoy a bit of a walk Steep Hill Cove and The Beach Shack is well worth discovering. Once you have you will want to return again and again ��

We usually try and visit here when on the IOW as the location and craft salads are really great! It's not easy to reach but a short walk is all it takes. We have seen it busy at lunch times and it's not possible to reserve a table so we try and get there early. A good range of freshly made sandwichs, a soup of the day and salads make a no nonsense menu, as mentioned the crab salads are lovely. Oh and it's Ventnor crab which is good to see. We'll be back for sure.

What a location! Always recommend this place to anyone going to the island. The pint of prawns is a must have. Sit back and relax with a great view. Shame you can’t book a table. And you can work off your lunch walking back up the hill.
Absolutely beautiful place for a spot of lunch prawn and Crab salad s one of if not the most picturesque places on the island, no crab left when we went but depending on catch going back next year got to have Crab 😀 yessssss 2023 got it 👍👍👍
We loved it and will definitely visit again, the service was friendly, the venue was clean and offered a range of meals and beverages depending on the time you visit which was prepared with finesse and were of decent proportion, using fresh produce. The rock buns were homemade and delicious. Food was made to order, the view is stunning and offers a range of activities.
We found it by chance last year on our holiday. It was an amazing find, best crab sandwiches ever. Lovely staff. If you want the crab you have to get there early. Can't wait to go back next year.
A real good, busy cafe near the beach. The food was very good and the service was quick. Seating was limited, and it fills up quickly.
Toilets are situated about 50 m away, and we're reasonably clean.

Cracking place for fresh produce in Steephill Cove. Quite a rustic place with a decent selection of local produce!
This beach front cafe is a must for all visitors to Ventnor - to the Isle of Wight even. Great food, wonderful staff, and the view... I've been here on hot sunny days with calms seas and the sound of children playing in rock pools, and I've been here on stormy days with waves crashing again the cage wall - glorious!
I can definitely recommend the egg sandwiches. And the crab soup. And the Caesar salad. And the cakes.

A wonderful little spot which used to be just your bog standard beachside cafe serving ice creams and bad coffee, which has now been transformed into a much more upmarket affair with excellent food and decent coffee. The menu could have been wider and the crab sandwich was quite simple for the price.
