Neil's New York Style Donut

Donuts are way better than Dunkin. I am lucky enough to live around the corner and go to work early so I don’t have a wait as I am there for opening. I buy donuts for roughly 60 employees and they literally run from across the building to get them. All the reviews about how busy it is are true. Worth the wait if the line isn’t wrapped around the building as it normally is. I think their breakfast sandwiches suffer which is why 4 stars instead of 5.

Neils has hands down the best donuts in CT. I don't care what other people say, this is the plant for donuts. I'm sad they don't have a drive thru. Seems like the town of Wallingford won't allow them to. It would be helpful with small children. However, since covid they have a great call ahead option, and to be honest it works out great. Their lines are ALWAYS long. So just call it in and they bring to your car. Best of luck with your new location in Middletown! Neils is the BOMBBBBB!!!!!!

[Updating this review as the owner or manager is saying my review is a lie, and in turn he is coming across as a liar. We were at the store at 1:30 pm with the open sign in view, all the lights on, employees inside, inventory visible and posted hours saying they are open. Employees including him were not wearing masks. Again, this review is not about the food but rather the disregard for health protocols.] Noticed none of the employees were masked, exposing the customers and the uncovered food. Folks, we have a pandemic going on! Never went inside, just got back inside car and left. Imagine donuts and bagels are good but you won’t find me or my family inside any establishment that puts the customers in danger.

This place is extremely popular at the weekends with a socially-distances line out of the store. But the efficient staff and quick moving line mean quick service. And it is worth the wait. The donuts are fresh and varied. My wife and I love the Samoa and Key Lime donuts. Their coffee is also great. And then there's the price: extremely affordable. Rare to see quality service, outstanding food, and great prices at the same time.

I have a severe allergy to peanuts. Most donut shops I have found have either a peanut-covered or peanut butter donut, which means I cannot eat any donuts at their shop due to corss-contamination. I am so thankful that Neil's does not use these products in their donuts because this means peanut allergic people like myself can actually eat there!
