The Extraordinary Hare

I am local to The Hare. I used to drink there every week. There has been a change of lease. Last week (it was Friday 13th) there was a new manager. A group of us were drinking and we had a tab. Unfortunately the bill did not correspond to what we had consumed - these things happen. However the way this error was handled by the manager was extremely unpleasant. The manager was very confident that it was the fault of the clients (apparently he never makes mistakes ). Maybe he was right but we are pretty sure he wasn't. A compromise was needed, maybe further investigation (we had been served by two people) but no, it was the fault of the clients as far as the manager was concerned and we were going to be made to feel uncomfortable about it. We left with a bitter taste in our mouths. I cannot comment on the food as I haven't eaten there. It looks good. The beer is kept well. UPDATE I am please to say that the offending manager has now left and I am very pleased to be able to drink in my local pub again.

Had the best lunch here today :) Not one to leave reviews often but this place is definitely deserving of one! Starters, mains and desserts were all great. Chris was lovely, thank you for your service. Thank you to the chef for the amazing food and thank you Molly dog for the cuddles. Will definitely return when in the area. Highly recommend a visit here! :)

Love it, they hv a Beautiful big garden with a lovely and comfortable garden patio. They got a lovely goats behind fence. U can bring Ur pet as well 🙂. Patio is covered from sun so no need to worry. Lots of trees and lovely vue from the garden. U can bring Ur Children and U all can enjoy. Love the food and I was shocked with the portions (really big). Very friendly service 🤗. Thank You very much. More places like that please!

Enjoyed an amazing meal at the Extraordinary Hare last night, super value for money, wonderful staff and delicious food! We misjudged the time to get there and arrived early, this wasn't a problem for the waitress and she showed us to our table with a smile and friendly nature. We placed our order and the food arrived in good time. I ordered the haloumi kebab for £14.95, and couldn't believe the (large) size of the portion and the variety of good on the platter. I have nothing bad at all to say about them, even the decor and atmosphere were lovely. The prices are comparable to other places nearby, but I'd say the portion sizes are better here. I would definitely recommend trying here if you haven't already.

Went here today for the first time, for mothers day, with my baby daughter, mum, dad and partner... Food was amazing!! Everything was very tasty and good portion sizes too! The staff were all lovely and very friendly (which I think makes all the difference!) Even though they were clearly very busy, they still made time to speak to my daughter and were very welcoming. The little touch of the mother's day cupcake and handcream was completely unexpected but a really nice touch at the end of our yummy meal! The baby changing facilities- never been anywhere that has a stock of nappies, wipes, creams, lotions - fab!!! Couldn't fault the place! We will definitely be back! From the first contact via phone to the time we left after our meal we had first class service. The young ladies who dealt with us are a credit to the management. The meals we had were very well presented by the kitchen and served by the ladies. I had a prawn cocktail which had enough prawns to feed two people, which it did. My main course was a gammon served with melted cheese and tomato. The wife had a lamb Kebab with 3 types of dipping sauce and salad. When the main meals came my gammon was as described but I was a little concerned that the cheese may be hiding a rough cut of meat. How wrong, it was very good. Well done to the chef. A little disappointed with my wife's main course. Not the content but the price for the amount served on the plate. Next came the pudding. The wife had the Baileys Cheesecake. A very large slice turned up on the plate with a glass of Baileys. I ordered the special Cheery Mango Sorbet. It was served in a massive glass. Wow, what a surprise when I sunk my spoon in. The most delicious pudding I have had in years. Fruit from top to bottom. Whilst all this food was being enjoyed I had 2 pints of Timothy Taylor Landlords Bitter. Whoever is looking after beer pumps is doing a first class job. It is a shame that I live 200+ miles from here because I would make this my local. Thanks to all who made our evening very enjoyable. Oh, and the car park is level if you are staying over in a motorhome. Ring first though.
