Absolutely brilliant staff great survice 100 percent reckcomend
BEST EVER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. I cannot believe how brilliant the food quality of this restaurant is. it was just wonderful. the service was just brilliant i was offered drinks straight away and everyone was very warm and friendly, which made us feel very nice and at home. the food was outstanding, the curry flavors are just WOW. i recommend this restaurant to anybody. and i say for people to go there absolutely.
Good quality traditional food. I recently moved to the Warlingham area from the City of London. In my line of work, I am forever taking clients out for posh meals. So when I discovered this no-frills-great-food restaurant I was very surprised. It's like finding a good quality traditional pub (serving a good English beer) in a town full of posh bars (serving over-priced strange cocktails and funky coloured drinks).
Inside, it felt very authentic. Very similar to some of the restaurants I've visited in India. The staff greeted me pleasently and courteously. My wife and I ordered a Chicken Chaat Puri, Pilau, Chicken Balti, Goa Chicken (never tried that one before) Popadoms, Garlic Naan and drinks.
The food came in good time and was piping hot and nicely presented, the portion sizes were very generous. At this point I was salivating and we were both keen to taste the food.
We were very impressed. The flavours were teasing our taste buds, I was able to taste each ingredient and was able to appreciate the Chef's skills in combining all the flavours together to make a delicious dish. The chicken was soft and the curry wasn't too hot (though the waiter did mention they can customise the curry if I wanted it hotter - no thank you, this is enough for me). The naan breads had a subtle hint of garlic to it (other eateries overdose on garlic which overtakes everything else), the pilau was fragrant and the Goa Chicken was unique (sweet, tangy and spicy) yet tasty.
If I did have any criticisms, then it would be the restaurant could play better music and a bit more interaction by the waiters (they are too courteous and need to be a bit more bubblier, although the Manager had a laugh with us). But I am nit-picking.
So for great food, lovely ambience and a nice time out, I would highly recommend this little hidden gem of a restaurant. And believe me I have eaten at over 100 Indian restaurants around the country and this lists in my Top 5.
Good traditional Indian, but not to hot
I don't understand why so many reviewers are complaining about the service. Presumably they are Brexit voters unhappy that the staff are not bowing and scraping like the days of the Raj. I found the service fantastic, the food great, and the prices reasonable. Much better than India Dining a few doors down
Was a nice cosy restaurant the service was good really friendly staff great selection of food and drink menu and good prices nice background music easy to get to by bus can park close by
A Warlingham institution on the village green, celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. Narrow interior creates a cosy atmosphere. Menu is typical of most curry houses. Generous portions, cheap prices by 2023 inflated standards so good value for money. Service is fast and attentive, but manner can be a bit abrupt. It’s a great night out from Croydon, 403 bus to Warlingham, a few drinks in the nearby historic White Lion pub followed by a curry in the Warlingham Tandoori and bus home.
proper old school curry house with all the things you expect, old school crockery with their name on... and the BEST tarka dall I've ever had, consistently!
lamb ceylon, prawn patia, naans, puris... all great too!
Took my mother-in -law and family for her birthday. Staff were great and the service excellent. The food, as always was superb and we all had a great time. Thank you, see again soon
A lovely Thursday night dinner. I'd recommend the Prawn puri strater and Lamb Kazanna special. Thank you.
Very old school style curry house with a 1980s decor, food is great though and good value.
A lovely evening, 8 of us for a birthday meal for my daughter & 94 year old mother in law highly recommended 😀
Excellent service. We were spoilt. Lovely authentic flavours, generous portion sizes and we'll worth the cost. Good traditional ambience, clean, tidy and organised. Wonderful staff
Food is pretty ok, as is the service, its a bit like going to Won-Kai in China town, but your less likely to get chopped by triads. Expect reasonable prices, cold beer if you ask for it specifically, and occasionally gruff service dependant on how the staffs day went, one thing I do love tho is the free after eight mint and occasionally a fake Bayles!!
