We found this on a Google search for somewhere to eat on our way to South Shields from North Essex and I am glad we did. The staff were welcoming and friendly and the food was delicious. It was nice to see a decent vegetarian selection and my Butternut and beetroot Wellington was yummy. My friend gad the Pork medallion in creamy mushroom sauce with potato rosti and said it was delicious. Would highly recommend this pub for a lovely meal.

Arranged a gathering of old friends for lunch after a walk. Very accommodating and helpful. Opened up the Canal Room so we could sit together with accompanying dogs. Brilliant friendly service, good food and drinks at reasonable prices. Thankyou.

Stopped for lunch before heading off along the canals for a walk. Great location, small but good menu with varied choice and food was delicious. Sat in the garden for drinks post walk, which were lovely and set up for all weathers. Will definitely be back!

We had a fabulous meal here on Sunday, really good pub fayre and friendly staff. It was great to see several vegetarian dishes available, credit to the chefs and management for providing a decent selection, which often is not the case in pubs. Battered halloumi was cooked to perfection. Visited en-route to Suffolk with our dog who was allowed in bar area and we all enjoyed a walk around the wharf and canal too. Would certainly return.

Don’t judge a book by its cover springs to mind when we visited The Wharf Inn. On first impressions, the pub is in need of a refurb. The room we sat in by the bar was a little dingy. What took us by surprise was just how good the food is here. It was amazing. Great value, and proper home made chips! Couldn’t fault it. The staff were lovely, polite and warm. If you look past the tired decor, you’ll in for a treat. Would give it full 5 stars if the place was given a refresh, but it’s definitely a 4 star plus plus!

Nice pub at the marina. Good honest pub food at a good price and good quality. Friendly staff and good service. Nice walks along the canal too. Dog friendly. Been here a few times now.

A great pub to meet and celebrate with the family! The food was delicious and plentiful, sorry for not taking pictures!! 😁 However, for us the best bit was that although the pub was very busy, Sunday, we were left to enjoy the food and the conversation going. Now and then one of the girls approached us to ask us if we needed anything, (perhaps a bigger belly, we could not try the puddings 😭😱😭), otherwise, just enjoying the place and the company. Fabulous place, definitely we will be coming back!!! 🌷🌸🌷🌸🌷

What a superb find. Touring in my campervan we stopped here for an overnight stop in the adjacent Canal Trust carpark. The food was excellent, appearing to be all home prepared and cooked and very reasonably priced, beers too were a good price. We struck lucky as there was live music in the beer garden and judging by the permanent large covered area outside and the shed which has beer within the beer garden I would expect this to be a regular feature. Recommended.

Had family visiting so decided to go for lunch. Food was very good ,service, good. Two of us had the game pie, and have to say was the best I've eaten in a while, pastry delicious, well filled with very tender pieces of meat, nice selection of veg and a small jug of very nice gravy. No complaints here.
