This is a tough one, because ever since I moved to Southern Maine everyone and their mother has been telling me how good the Steakhouse is in Wells. I have to say the caeser salad and the onion soup were amazing but the namesake dish, the steak, was just ok. The steak was perfectly cooked but was devoid of any sort of seasoning. They did serve a blue cheese garlic butter with it but the flavor overpowered any steak flavor. If I was going for the apps I would go back but if I wanted a good steak I don't think this would be my first choice.

This an excellent steakhouse. Their meat is aged and cooked to perfection. Menu also offers plenty other choices. The pot of beans are delicious and cute. If lucky enough to have stewed tomatoes on the menu get them. Sugary lumps of red bliss. Not too sugary, just right. Made from scratch. Not out of a can. Happy to learn that this restaurant in southern Maine had no fried food on the menu, a bonus!

The surf-and-turf was great. Happy to be there on a quiet night during the off-season. First time back in 15 years. Loved it and hope to return sooner than later.

Highly recommend this restaurant if you're in the area. Food was plentiful, delicious and we had a great experience while at the restaurant. Big thank you to the staff for making our time there the best.

My fiance and I tried this spot last night and it did not disappoint. We had a good range from the menu and everything was flavorful and cooked perfectly. I savored the vegetable beef barley crock as my starter with a warm crusty roll and he got 2 jumbo shrimp in his cocktail. We shared the stuffed mushrooms. The mushrooms were hot, juicy, and one could tell ingredients immediately. Definitely a rich, decadent option and I could only enjoy one.
Dinner was a garden salad with steak (his) and a flat iron market price cooked to medium well (mine). Sides chosen were baked potato and steamed broccoli. I swiped one of his sides of blue cheese and though the steak did not need anything extra, I dipped every other piece in the tangy dressing. Heavenly. Yes, it is pricey, but everything shows perfection and joy in their craft by the kitchen. Our waitress was knowledgeable and personable. She was lovely and checked in often. We immensely enjoyed our weekend evening out and already have the Steakhouse on our list to do again.

I would compare The Steakhouse to an upscale Texas Roadhouse. The food is excellent, staff are friendly, and the atmosphere is welcoming and country themed.
I ordered the petite filet mignon, the baked potatoe, and rice pilaf for the main course, the cheese fries for an appetizer and lastly the cheesecake for dessert. All or which tasted very well.
The only reason why I would rate it slightly below 5 stars is that for a Steakhouse the steak was very tender, but had no seasoning/marinade to it. So while it was tender, it was lacking flavor. In addition to this they did not have any bearnaise sauce available.
I would recommend this place for those looking for a great meal in a welcoming atmosphere. I will be going back for sure.

Great food and great service too. Prices are reasonable for Wells. I could go on and on about how good it was, and it is definitely 5 stars but ai need to point out two things. They don't take reservations so expect to wait over an hour. They have horrible handicap accomodations. We had an elderly lady in a wheelchair with is and could not find handicap parking spaces anywhere. I don't even know if they had spaces. We had to push a wheelchair up a steep hill from the parking lot and go in a "back" door and wait in a narrow hall by the bathroom. We got asked no less than 20 times if we were in line for the bathroom. Then, when the one other person on a wheelchair left, we had to shuffle around to get them past us.

We tried this place a year ago and it was VERY busy but let me tell ya... it's definitely worth the hour or hour and a half wait! I used to go to Billy's all the time but since I had their food once, I'm hooked! I have made this restaurant my go to place for dinner. You get a good amount of food for a great price and the quality is outstanding! It's very rare for me to tip the cook but after having the teriyaki sirloin steak and it literally melts in your mouth, I usually give the cooks a tip. I even convinced my brother to try it and now he's hooked! We come from Vermont for fishing and to get away and now we add the amazing dinner to that list! We will DEFINITELY be coming back for more!!
