We visited this restaurant for the first time last week. The service and the food were all excellent and they serve some wines by the 500ml carafe which is just right for us. Just one small point. I had the mussels and king prawn starter which was absolutely delicious. However, it would have been even better if there was a separate bowl for the empty mussel shells and something to soak up or make it easier to drink the wonderful sauce - maybe some crusty bread?

My partner and I visited without booking. Midweek afternoon so no problem getting a seat. Afternoon menu was just the right size. The food was excellant. Try the French onion soup amazing.. The staff were friendly and helpful. We looked at the evening menu and it looked gorgeous. 3 course £34 and 2 course £29. Great value. Bottled Timothy Taylor was lovely. Highly recommended.

Never have I ever been disappointed with this darling gem of a bistro in Whitby. Just had one of the best roast lunches I have had in a long time! Fabulous place, fantastic food and superb service. Easily, my favourite place to eat.

We will definitely come back. Sorry about the blurred photo but it definitely doesn’t reflect the quality of the food.

My friends and I booked afternoon tea here at short notice, once I had discovered that they also offered vegan options too. My American friends were visiting just for the day, and loved it here, as did I. The venue decoration was lovely, and even the ladies bathroom had lovely details of interior design. The food was very nice, both the vegan and dairy options, and was served promptly and with lovely china. I would book here again, as it was also very reasonably priced compared to say York. However, I would say that the staff could have been more attentive, and told us what was in the sandwiches etc before we started as it is a nice touch. It also would have been nice to know the full range of teas available.

This was our second visit to madamoiselles it really is a beautiful restaurant, the menu is very small and don’t think it had changed since our visit last year. The food we had was really good and the service was good and very friendly, worth a visit just to see how beautiful this place is

We enjoyed a special meal on Saturday (which ended up in us getting engaged!) - the drinks and food menu was perfect (good, simple French food and wine cooked very well) as was the service and atmosphere. I can’t wait to go back and it will remain a special place for us. It was lovely to be able to relax in the Imaginarium after our delicious meal with a cheese board, pineau and of course the proposal.

This place is amazing we had the Camembert sharer which wasn’t on the daytime menu but the were more than happy to accommodate us. We also had the croque monsieur and croque Madame which were fabulous. The place itself is so quirky and the ambiance was special even in the afternoon.

Come to Whitby regularly and chose here based on Tripadvisor reviews and a great looking website, ended up being so disappointed. Arrived at 8:00pm, right on time, even had the obligatory call that morning confirming we were still coming, I had booked weeks before. The house was crammed; it was obvious they has overbooked. We were shown into a back room for the ‘where are we going to sit them’ for pre-drinks. Waited 10 minutes for someone to come back to us and ordered 2 GnT’s. Waited a further 10 minutes for the drinks, and then had to ask for the menus. Finally got seated at 8:35pm. The table was cramped, didn’t have space to take my jacket off, the house was warm and noisy with the amount of customers. The parfait was OK, can’t really make a mess up getting a ramekin out of the fridge and toasting some bread. We both ordered the Beef Bourguignon, which is so highly regarded from earlier reviews. The meat was awful, really dry and tough. It had either not been cooked enough of left out to dry and put back in the sauce, certainly couldn’t eat it with just a fork, in fact couldn’t eat it at all. Needless to say we left early, I’d seen enough. I did complain and because we couldn’t stomach dessert had the wine of wine deducted from the bill. The ‘goodwill’ gesture was appreciated but we had booked this some time ago really looking forward to our Saturday evening so left really disappointed.

Ambience in abundance. We had a fantastic meal, started of with a couple of gins that we have not tasted before, great variety to choose from. When we was seated in a cosy corner we ordered a a bottle of the house red. For starters we ordered the salmon mouse and fennel and the goats cheese, both tasted amazing. For the main we chose the beef bourguignon with vegetables and dauphinous which where a taste sensation. All this for around £80. Fantastic value so please try we loved it.
