Fish and chips were really good, but the starter (king prawn) was very less for the price. Service was good. Really liked the sweet potato fries.

Came on a spontaneous trip to Whitby (from Lancashire) cause my husband wanted fish & chips so booked a night away and came to Trenchers. It did not disappoint! We got the regular cod, God knows what a large looks like! It was a beautiful piece of fish and our server was lovely, friendly and chatty

I recently tried the fish and chips at this establishment, and it's hands down the best I've ever had. I ordered the medium size Cod and Haddock, which cost around £17/£18 per person. The fish was delightfully chunky, meaty, and fresh, with a light and crispy batter. The chips was standard. The location is convenient, just across from Whitby Station, making it easy to find. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and despite the bustling atmosphere filled with both locals and tourists, there were plenty of tables available. However, if you visit during lunchtime, be prepared to wait in line. The restaurant was clean and tidy, adding to the overall pleasant experience. In conclusion, I had a very enjoyable dining experience here.

Classic seaside Chippy vibe. Restaurant couldn't accommodate my friends and I as it was busy so we did takeaway. The fish was very fresh, and skin on, which I as a city dweller wasn't expecting, but did enjoy. I asked for a lightly battered fish, however it came more on the heavy side. The meal was still enjoyable nonetheless.

Lovely food, I had cod and chips. Only a small portion but it was very generous. I was tempted by the sherry trifle for dessert. It was glorious. Attentive staff and stylish surroundings. People were queuing up about 20 minutes before it opened. Will go again

After hearing good things about Trenchers, we decided to give it a go for our very first time in Whitby. There's ample space for everyone, it's clean and almost slightly fancy! Seeing chefs with white hats at the front cooking your fish and chips is a refreshing change! The service was super friendly and quick, the food came out in a shot and most importantly it was delicious. I forgot to photograph my partners food, he had the whitby scampi and the large cod and chips - he spoke highly of those too.

Superb fish and chips. High quality fish in perfect crispy batter. Chips cooked to perfection. Quick service, cash or card, friendly and good value. Nice bench to sit and eat opposite too. One of the best fish and chip takeaways I've had.

The fish and chips were really good and I highly recommend getting the haddock! it's just so much softer and really melts in your mouth. the crunchy batter was so good and tartar sauce tasted great and freshly made! Ambience of the restaurant was also really nice and boujee. Overall just a good experience dining here! Definitely worth a visit.
