Lovely little pub with great views from beer garden - ideal for a stop off when walking the Cleveland Way. Decent choice of delicious home cooked food which was very reasonably priced and a good range of drinks.

Such a wonderful country pub, we arrived at 12 noon, greeted with a smile. Food was absolutely amazing, we went for scampi and chips. Glad we did as it was very tasty and delivered extremely quickly. It’s was a lovely day so we made good use of the beautiful beer garden. The inside was really nice and extremely clean. We fell upon this magical place just by chance bunt glad we did. We will got again when we’re visiting Whitby.

A great, quiet little country pub. Proper homemade food. I had a superb mushroom lasagne with great chunky chips and a well dressed salad. Everyone in our family thoroughly enjoyed their choices. I can hghly recommend it, you won't be disappointed.

Well situated for a detour from the cliff top path between Sandsend and Runswick Bay. Also a great cycle stop with cycle rack in the beer garden - so bonus points for that. Great little garden sheltered by low hedges but still afford views back towards Lythe and Sandsend. Beer was Timothy Taylor when we were there but their pale ale is a decent pint so enjoyed that. Staff very attentive and good food as well - so plenty of reasons to divert from the path.

Gorgeous little pub with a friendly atmosphere, arrived 5 minutes before food stopped and they still accommodated for us. Food was lovely and service was great.

Classic county pub. Outdoor seating in front and back. Great traditional atmosphere and nice variety of beers. We only stopped in for drinks. Guests should know two things. Only cash is accepted. Look, I understand the reasons behind this but when you're in the hospitality industry in this day/age... Secondly, children are allowed only in the small lounge, I'd have to think this is some kind of local license restriction, but I have to question why as the lounge is separated from the bar by all of about 6 feet.

We wanted a bite to eat with the kids somewhere off of the beaten track and stumbled across this pub. I believe it is a local couple who run it. The gentlemen does a fantastic job of running the bar and is his customer service was outstanding. His wife, however, was the shining star as her homemade lemon drizzle cake and brownies were to die for. If you are paying them a visit, please leave room for desert! See you on our next trip to Whitby.

Last day of our holiday and went to this fantastic traditional pub, great food and service. Everyone was really friendly and welcoming - we even joined in the Friday night quiz. Definitely recommend a visit, we will certainly be going back.

Tucked away little gem of an old pub, popped in for a meal with our dog, made very welcome, food was very reasonably priced with a fair choice, arrived nice & hot fairly quickly. Lovely view out the back.
