Fantastic pub which is child & dog friendly & the food is lovely & great price. We return to this pub each time we come to Whitby. Defo worth a visit. Xx

Didn't stay here as we stay in cottage. We visit several times while on holiday as staff are very friendly. Food has always been lovely, I can personally recommend anyone to visit for food and drink. 😊
First time to Whitby & discovered this little gem on the first night. Food is fantastic & homemade. Portions are large so you certainly won’t leave hungry. Compliments to the chef, he certainly knows how to cook. Staff are all friendly & prices reasonable. We visited here a few times over our weekend break as we enjoyed it that much 👍🏻👍🏻
The pub is in a good location, tucked away from the busiest part of the town. We called in for a family meal and were able to be seated immediately. The pub has a wonderful traditional feel, which I really like. The bar staff were friendly and attentive. We all opted for a Sunday roast. Our food arrived quickly, which was good quality, simple pub grub, which tasted great. The only reason I haven't given 4 stars is because there were no vegetarian options on the menu, for one of our party. However, when we enquired, they were able to provide a vegetarian Sunday lunch, which was enjoyed. We would return.

the food is handmade and beautiful very large portions. Big Jeff sure knows how to cook. Debbie the new land lady is very hard-working and can't do enough for her customers. the rooms upstairs are lovely and clean and the bedding and beds were made to perfection.

Been visiting this pub for years. One of my favourite places to go for a drink, especially in the colder weather. Just a really nice, welcoming place to visit. Quite a traditional pub feel about it.
A brilliant pub, Andy and Mandy are great Landlord and Landlady. Very friendly. The barman was funny too. Spent a few sessions during our weekend away.
Had a lovely family sunday lunch here during our stay in Whitby. Service was very polite, food yummy and great value. Will definitely return when we came back to Whitby. Thank you
Stopped by as we heard that it was a live act that evening. Sat in the upstairs room still able to enjoy the act and at a volume that was not super loud as some can be. Watching the people in the other room playing darts as we listened. Drink price was average, good atmosphere, on the whole a very good pub visit.

We stayed at the grandby hotel for 3 night fot 243 quid (81quid a night)
I thorght its was a good value for the money
There are a few bits to do in the room we was in (room 2)
.1) the bathroom and the main room door could sanding down doors are abit stiff to shut
.2) shower head bracket is tie wrap on could do with addressing up but works and functions as it should
.3) toilet roll holder needs a bit of repair just loose
.4) bed squeeks slightly but i am bit fella
But the pros of room 2 and rest of hotel
.1) all staff are welcomeing friendly felt well looked after
.2) drinks are very good value ice is key hahaha
.3)food is amazing but a bit too much on my plate haha but i do recommendthe grandby home made burger but tell cheif jeff not so many chips
.4) number 2 room is nice and straght forward with onsuite bathroom night wall paper art work
.5) wardrobeis nice an roomy plentyof hangers/space
I really recommend this place if you drive parking mabye bit of a problem

Went for a meal in here from a locals recommendation. The chicken curry was lovely, very tasty, plenty of chicken and not too hot or spicy. The service and staff were very friendly and we would definitely go again.
