The Edwardian Tea Room is fabulous for a warm afternoon tea with family or friends.
The staff were very friendly and took our request for pescatarian sandwiches. However, keep in mind that they have a different menu of sandwiches everyday and they may not be able to entertain such a request everyday.
The whole place has a semi-vintage vibe and the gallery has a roof that allows a lot of sunlight to come in which makes it a wonderful experience for a sunny day.
This place is so beautiful and welcoming, and a great opportunity to feed your brain at the same time as your tummy. Nice selection of cakes, comfortable seating, friendly staff. As an independent coffee and tea room, it beats easily the large chains nearby. On occasions it also offers special dining events and late openings. Just check their website for that. Definitely one of my preferred places to go for a coffee in Birmingham.
Fabulous quality food. Don't make the mistake of thinking this is just a tea room. The handmade burger with blue cheese and smokey bacon is among the best in brum.
Beautiful surroundings. They do serve a wonderful afternoon tea but there is also poached salmon, confit duck, full breakfast, fish & chips as well as beers and wine available. A much underrated restaurant in my opinion.
Overall a nice place to chill out and have a coffee. Only concern, is the system of service. I think making the hot drinks and getting them at the counter would be more beneficial than doing table service, as it just created a back log of orders. Nearly waited 20 minutes for a pot of tea! Haha but staff were very apologetic and kind.
Definitely worth a visit. The venue itself is lovely, as described an Edwardian tea room. With an impressive high glass ceiling and beautiful tiled floor; styled with various chairs and sofa's it's comfy and cosy to enjoy an afternoon tea. The afternoon tea was really tasty; variety of finger sandwiches, miniature scones with all the trims and mini cakes all served on what is can only describe as a refurbished drawer. A tad too quirky for me but each to their own. Then there was the tea... Loose leaf English breakfast tea... Was amazing and plentiful!! All together it was a lovely setting and scrummy food which we needed time to recover from. This place is great for a date, a catch up with friends and some personal time with tea and cake. Eat, be cultured and well fed.
Beautiful room with booths, tables, and couches available and a variety of passable food. Perfect with kids as there's a play area right next to it plus a kids' menu. Would prefer an actual plate for my food. ;)
Excellent afternoon tea with fresh sandwiches, lovely scones with jam and clotted cream and great selection of delicious mini cakes. Generous portions (we took some home!) and staff were really helpful. Lovely venue for a relaxing treat.
I am a coach driver and had taken a group to Birmingham for an overnight stay. I found this cafe by chance after taking a look around the museum.
The prices are very reasonable and the service was quite swift. I ordered a large cappuccino and a piece of coffee cake... The cake was very Nice... Nice and moist. Not overly sweet.
The staff were very friendly and there is ample seating but be warned... It does get rather busy.
Nice environment. Friendly staff, most of them anyway, fairly tasty food, nice selection of drinks. We were 5 adults and two children. Had to wait around 40 minutes to get everyone's food and the last order was forgotten. Such a shame. The young lady bringing the food was obviously there for the money unfortunately and minutes social skills. Who seemed to be the manager more then made up for her lack of skills. He was very refreshing and chatty and asked if we were ok a few times.
Overall, a pleasant experience. I recommend this place too as it's warm and inviting.
I love this place and stop by almost every time I'm in Brum. This time we had the Sunday lunch, very good and large portions. The tea for one comes in a massive pot!
