Place looks clean and well kept, friendly staff, by far the best chippie chips going, as well as the battered cod.
Royal chicken burger was very tasty and definitely cooked fresh. Proper chicken breast too. Sides such as onion rings and mozzarella sticks also very nice indeed. Would definitely recommend.

The food has always been excellent here, except for the chips. A fish and chip shop is only as good as its chips, and for too long the chips have often been very poor from the Shotgate branch, but I'm delighted to find that has changed! Properly cooked, golden brown and crispy, just the way chip shop chips should be.

Nothing special...was better before F&C took it over.
Update: now worse, chips uncooked , fish wasn't what we ordered, in fact couldn't identify what it actually was!
Update again (Oct '19): happy to say that wholesale staff changes have made a huge difference! Chips properly cooked again and chicken was freshly cooked. Also now deliver!

Fish & Chips lunch at the bingo club was a big success with fish & chips , cod roe, sausages all cooked lovely, and well organised by Leah who had it all in hand, with mushy peas, tartar sauce, napkins, couldn't do enough for us. All well wrapped and ready when we got to the Shop.. Thank you Leah we will certainly be doing that again.

My family and I come to Wickford once a year from America and we always make sure to get Shotgate Fish & Chicken. Never been dissatisfied and the food is always great quality. I have no complaints on portion size.
