Went in after we found the place, a little hidden away but worth the effort. It was after one o clock and nobody was in except staff, this is usually a bit worrying, but proved not to be the case here.
We were seated quickly and a drinks order taken, given a menu and a specials board also fetched over. We didn't know what to choose as even though it wasn't a massive menu, it all sounded good. Not decrying the shorter menu at all, this is a sign they want to do a small amount of things well and this really is the case.
We had a Christmas dinner and a beef bourguignon, both excellent, the veg was just right and so tasty, everything was delicious.
The wine I had with this was a house tempranillo, went well with the beef, it was a very pleasant wine, wish I knew where to get some as there are so few reds I enjoy
Dessert was also fantastic, salted caramel profiteroles, could have eaten them again, and again, a Christmas pudding that was excellent too.
A brilliant find, great staff, excellent food and a good wine list, will be back and also recommend to friends
Went with a group of friends,the red door bistro is head and shoulders above any other restaurants in wigan . fantastic staff excellent service and the food is absolutely outstanding .would highly recommend this hidden gem .we will be visiting this bistro again very soon *****
Fab little place serving contemporary food great cocktails and the best sandwiches ever. Lamb and steak to die for. Try the chicken salad. So much flavour.
Just lunch but good value and well prepared, staff very friendly. Will go back.

Oh what an atmosphere!. Really enjoyed our visit through the red door. Had the most delicious steak cooked exactly to order, that I've eaten in a good long while. Served with a smile from the waitress who tended our every need without any uncomfortable 'hovering' which makes such a nice change. Really relaxing surroundings with a hint of jazz in the background. Just what we needed after a day spent shopping! A newly discovered gem..........
This little hidden gem is amazing, the food is exceptional and the staff can’t do enough for you. The menu is great not too big but enough choice which changes all the time, so you can always get something different every time you go. The steak was so tasty and cooked to perfection and the lamb I had on a previous visit was unbelievable.
Amazing food, you must try the salt and pepper cauliflower starter! Highly recommended, great food and service.
What a fantastic little place! I chose this venue to host my Mums 60th party. We had the upstairs area to ourselves, it’s absolutely beautiful up there, from the decor to the atmosphere I couldn’t fault it. We had the Mezze boards for the guests and they went down an absolute treat, with rave reviews from everyone. The staff were lovely, the owner Jane, equally as welcoming and lovely. Thank you for making my Mums day so very special! I really can’t wait to come down and have a meal at such an amazing little establishment.
Lovely place, staff were excellent very polite and really looked after us. The food was amazing all tasted so fresh. I had the beef Sunday dinner and it melted in my mouth, we had two children with us there dishes were lovely could tell it was made with just as much love an care as the adult meals were, you don’t get that often these days. An absolute gem of a place. Will definitely be visiting again!!
Lovely date night with a nice chilled atmosphere!! Nice set menu reasonably priced and friendly staff we will go back 😋
My partner and i enjoyed a Saturday date night at The Red Door. We both was very impressed with the low lighting, well spaced tables and the relaxed atmosphere.. The staff was friendly, helpful, and professional, We even got to meet the chef about 9pm when she came over to greet us.
Now on to the food, what I ever I was to write about the food would not be complimentary enough, as everything was exceptional (even the wait times between courses).
In my opinion, this is the no.1 restaurant in Wigan and with all things considered reasonably priced.
With a couple of drinks expect about £50 ahead.

Jayne was serving when we visited in March, so I am looking forward to returning when she’s in the kitchen. The food was great value, and the ambience was perfect. Food was a little unseasoned for my preference, but I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice meal.
Wigan best hidden gem!
There are no words to describe both the food and experience Red Door Bistro offers. Jayne the owner literally pours her heart and soul into this culinary delight and it is evident to see.
The customer service is second to none, and the menu and food served is so mouth watering, fresh and carefully thought through your biggest problem will be to actually decide on what to order.
The atmosphere within this little hideaway is so relaxing and intimate you actually don't want to leave. As soon as you walk in the door you know the vibe and passion of this restaurant is their customers and ensuring you have the best experience possible.
Honestly cannot thank Google ratings enough for suggesting this restaurant to me. We'll definitely be lifetime customers. And we just want to thank Janye and her team for everything they do ❤
This was my first experience dining at the Red Door Bistro, it won’t be my last! Amazing food and the tequila old fashioned cocktail was outstanding. The place looks amazing, hope to spend many years coming here. Thank you for a great evening just to add the staff I would say were very professional and attentive from start to finish.
Fantastic place, food is good and the staff were very welcoming.
