Subway

Nathan and his team at Robin Park Subway, are SO welcoming, friendly and helpful, we love our weekly group visits!! I am a teacher at 'One Vision Studios' Charity, working with young adults with physical and learning difficulties. Myself, and my Department Head, try to promote confidence-building, independence and social skills by ordering lunch there each week, following our trampolining course at Robin Park Leisure Centre. Subway staff, despite knowing every order by heart, enjoy chatting to our students as they order their meals, drinks and sides. They are patient, supportive and have great rapport with our group. They encourage everyone to speak for themselves, to make their own choices and even to try something new- once in a while :) It has been good to see confidence grow within the group, as the staff are super attentive to their needs. Our students even feel so comfortable with the life-skills they are learning, that they have been known to recognise other regular customers and say "hi" or ask how they are. Their interaction at table, as a social setting, has also been enhanced with better conversation, continued beautiful manners and support of one another. Our three standouts have to be Nathan, the manager, who goes out of his way to be SUPER amicable. He is professional, courteous, exceptionally efficient at moving the queue on (in a polite and effective way) as he is very efficient, without being pushy. We can, as a group, be quite slow during a busy lunch service, but it is important to allow students to experience these skills for themselves. He has a laugh with us all and we just move on up the queue, at our own pace... Reece is quick and energetic. He too, is kind and patient with our students. He is attentive and observant, and the group like his approach. It is always service with a smile and fast hands, making up their orders. All done without anyone feeling rushed! Sophie, is usually on the till, ensuring everyone has all their order together, able to carry it, give the correct money, put their change away safely and then remember their receipts. All things that we take for granted in our busy lives, but our students might take a while longer to process. We have met some truly lovely customers whilst there. People who ask who we are and where we are based. Exceptionally kind people, who have often given up their tables/ seats for us to all sit together, even if they hadn't quite finished up themselves :) People who have held the doors open for wheelchair access, or moved a chair out of the way to give more accessibility. Or even people who have waited patiently to use the toilet facilities and allowed us to go first. Plus a MASSIVE thank you to ALL the people who never complain if we take a little bit of time ordering, as the queue builds and they are in a rush for their own lunches, but smile and chat to us also. PLEASE know this awareness of our very diverse needs, is much appreciated and long may it continue!! So, to an amazing team at Robin Park Subway, we thank you for your attention to detail with our group, the compassion and support you give us weekly, the friendly, smiley staff who help us every time. We are grateful to you, we enjoy the experience weekly and are just sorry we couldn't name each lovely member of staff that works there- because there are MANY. Good knowledgeable staff, good service. Quiet when we went in. Tables had been cleaned but the floor hadn't. When we'd been severed they were filling shelves and cleaning everywhere. I couldn't fault them for that, but my daughter and better half went to the toilets and it put the place down. Otherwise, it's the usual subway experience.
