We have not visited The Eclipse since pre COVID days. It's a super pub , with a great atmosphere, nice to be able to relax and enjoy a few drinks and eat some very good food. Not very busy when we arrived for lunch, but gradually got busier. The Staff were very good. Quick service, hardly any time to wait for our food.

It had been many years since we visited The Eclipse as it is always so crowded but today it was empty when we arrived. The decor and atmosphere, including the ghost, is great. The barmaids were welcoming, friendly, and chatty. We liked the 60s music playing. When it finally arrived, after a 45-minute wait, the food (one burger, one sausage and mash) was delicious. That is why I knocked off a star: the menu warned if you ordered a meat pie, there would be a 25-minute wait but failed to say: 'if you order anything else, it will take twice as long'. A couple who arrived after us received their food before we did. At one point, I saw the chef pop out for a ciggie so maybe that was part of the delay.

My friend is profoundly deaf and wears hearing aids, so when I asked about background music (makes hearing harder) the manageress immediately offered us a room upstairs which is usually just for functions and we enjoyed a great meal and wonderful service. Would definitely go again

Well what can I say, our large family booked here for Christmas lunch catch up and we were greeted when we entered, Jason the manager reserved us the room upstairs and I must say they done an amazing set up with the room, the the table setting was stunning and the room itself was warm and cozy. The Christmas lunch was very tasty and nice and hot. The staff were very friendly and so prompt with everything. We will definitely be back for another visit.. thank you so much for making our Day special 👌

Delightful Tudor pub with wonderful drinks and accommodating staff. Thoroughly enjoy the Cumberlands and the Pie. Both the gravys were stunning and was a real delight to wash it down with a nice cask ale. Just nitpicking but the Cumberlands could have done with some more colour on them and the starters section of the menu could be expanded. But that's just nitpicking it's a wonderful menu and a great place to enjoy some pub grub.

We had an absolutely lovely time in this cosy pub. The staff were amazing, special thanks to Elliot for the great food recommendations and taking care of us! Highly recommend all of the Christmas Tapas. So delicious and filling!! We were on a short trip and would definitely come back another day. Many thanks!

When I was in the upstairs room alone the glass slide across the table by itself 👻 for real! This isn't a joke. I ran out of the room to where my girlfriend & 2 other girls were in line for the Ladies 🚺 & exclaimed (via swearing) what had happened. It was a real life paranormal experience! After this we got to my hotel room & the TV turned itself on & a game show was on the category of ghosts as a very odd coincidence. My gf doesn't believe it ghosts but she admitted all these events are really odd. This pub is genuinely haunted!

Really old historic pub near the cathedral. Quite small inside but a fabulous atmosphere. Mulled wine and food on offer

Lovely old pub with brilliant staff, excellent ale and good food - and they love Morris Dancers. What's not to like! Thank you for looking after the Kennet MM.

Lovely pint of (expensive) Stella in a traditional setting. I didn't eat but food looked good. Music a bit loud for me but I guess others must like it. Would go again for a quick pint but a session would have to be somewhere cheaper & quieter.
