Really lovely place, excellent staff. Strongly recommend the Mexican eggs. It was cosy and the food is delicious.

Wonderful breakfasts - incredibly tasty! I wish it were bigger as it can be difficult to get a seat.

Me and my parter ate here for breakfast during our trip to the lakes and it was great! I loved the decorations and the style of the place, the food was so yummy too!

A lovely little warm and cosy coffee shop. The coffee is fantastic and the food is brilliant. The bacon sandwich was a triumph. Check out the brownies though, we didn’t have one but def wanted to!

We love this place!! A regular stop off and no matter what mood we are in homeground wins 9/10 times! The food is ridiculously tasty, varied, I’m gluten free and they cater happily. The staff are the loveliest bunch, always happy, always smiling, and genuine, this place is rammed most of the time and I’ve never walked in and not felt welcome. If your in windermere, want some good food and amazing coffee, with some relaxing beautiful cosy decor, this is the place for you! Go!

Setting the bar for every cafe in the area. Consistently great food & perfectly brewed coffee with Lovely staff. I never miss a chance to go or rave about it to people.

I've lost count of how often we've visited Homeground the last four years - a trip to the Lakes isn't complete without at least one portion of Homeground waffles, and we often come back 4-5 times in a week, even if we're staying a good distance away from Windermere. Let's begin with the most important bit: the coffee. As someone who drinks her way through London's single origin hipster cafes, Homeground know their stuff - the coffee is absolutely delicious, I've never had a bad cup here. The food is also delicious. While not cheap, you get your money's worth - it's well prepared, delicious, and the portions are generous. You're genuinely missing out if you don't try their waffles at least once, whether it's the banana/mascarpone/maple syrup version, or the fried chicken incarnation. We're still trying to figure out how to replicate their French toast, because we've never tasted better. The portions are such that brunch here will see you through most of your walk, especially if you grab a blondie or cookie to take away. As for the cafe itself - I love the decor and the super friendly service. It's the perfect place to hole up on a rainy day, to prepare for the long drive back south, or to celebrate your arrival in the Lakes. It tends to be busy around lunchtime and on weekends, for obvious reasons. Even then, they'll normally have you seated in no time, and if they know there's going to be a bit of a wait for your food, they'll tell you upfront. We'll also regularly just stop by for a coffee or two. In short, Homeground is truly something special. Everything you want from a cafe, in a lovely space, with lovely people. I couldn't recommend it more, and wish I lived closer.

We’ve been to Windermere plenty of times but only just stumbled across this little place! Friendly staff, top grub and great atmosphere - worth a visit!

We stayed for a long weekend in Windermere and went here every day for breakfast and coffee. Their menu is perfect and catered for everyone, we're Vegan and they had some great options for us and what was on the menu as non-Vegan they accommodated us by making a Vegan alternative. We are huge coffee lovers and the cappuccino with oat milk is addictive! We're looking forward to going to Windermere again and will be definitely coming back here!

The lemon drizzle and peanut butter cake was nice, I’m not sure if this place is worth the 5 star hype I’ve seen everywhere but it was good, just nothing extraordinary if that’s what you’re expecting. The queue went down really quickly and we didn’t wait long at all despite it seeming that way, staff were nice!

This is a lovely cafe but I had to knock a star off due to the cost, for what you got and one of my poached eggs still had runny white in. We love the ambience in this cafe. So calming and staff are lovely. We had poached eggs on a piece of sour dough toast. £5 for this, which we felt was a tad on expensive side. The coffees, latte , in a glass cup were £2.90, again a little expensive for the amount of coffee you get. It is a lovely place though and if you don't mind paying that little bit more , go for it.

Spent a week in Windermere and visited Homeground on day one. The restaurant was running a busy lunch service but we were seated very quickly. The menu was very impressive, I opted for a safe bacon and egg sandwich which came out very quickly. Although obviously simple each component was exceptional and made for a high quality meal. The coffee was great and a wide variety of appetising cakes were on offer. My partner and I returned twice more over the next few days and got through most of the menu. We'd highly recommend the "Squashed Eggs" and the "Homeground Sarnie", both dishes were well thought out and well prepared. Couldn't recommend Homeground more, a unexpected and fabulous find in quiet Windermere.

Early morning jaunt up to the Lakes on a beautiful day and really looking forward to coffee and cake here. Plenty of choice but the Peanut Butter and Raspberry Blondie was so good last time. Sat on a stool at the window, steamed up windows, ended up cleaning them myself despite there being plenty of staff. Tried to send a few Whatsapps, nothing doing. Asked a member of staff - no WiFi. Coffee came in a mug as requested, to maintain the heat, but it was luke warm by the time I'd finished the cake. Cake came with a knife, not a fork, had to ask for one. Cake was delicious and the Latte was very good. A few minor quibbles but unfortunately it wasn't a 5 circle experience this time.

Probably my favourite cafe in the lakes. Wonderful log burner to sit by whilst eating simply wonderful food. My only negative is the lack of whiskey millionaire shortbread this time. Otherwise it’s a first class establishment.

Great coffee and breakfasts - not ur usual greasy spoon fare. The bacon bap and homemade brown sauce are unreal.

So we spent a couple of days in Windermere and took the dog so trying to eat out was limited. Although you can not take dogs in you are aloud to sit outside with them. I ordered the hash browns and a bacon and egg barm. The hash browns are something I still think about now! If your in Windermere looking for a nice non greasy breakfast I would definitely recommend going here.

This was definitely a highlight of our holiday. We came twice in 2 days for brunch! The squashed eggs (baked with haricot beans garlic and sage oil) were divine and so hearty, and the avo toast and eggs royale were also so good. Marmite and cheddar sourdough a first!!! NOT TO MENTION the incredible selection of cakes. Omg. The pear and hazelnut frangipane tart was recommended and was so delicious even my partner who doesn’t eat cakes loved it. Also the coffee is amazing. Thank you! Please come to London!
