We recently stayed at this beautiful house for our honeymoon. It was quiet and away from the hustle and bustle of town. The staff were exceptional, especially Tom. He greeted us warmly and gave us the best room with a private balcony and many other wonderful amenities. He constantly made sure we were satisfied and went the extra mile to ensure we enjoyed our stay. Tom also was very kind and professional and provided excellent service as well. These young men were a great team! We hope to return to this wonderful B&B on our next visit to Scotland.

We stayed for two nights, with our two Cocker Spaniels on a bed and breakfast package with the lake Windermere cruise trip! Everything was perfect!!
This hotel truly is a hidden gem, the staff, food, hotel and location were all amazing. Nothing was too much trouble, and it was a joy to stay at a dog friendly hotel, that is so accepting of dogs.
The food was exceptional, we couldn’t fault it! We had the five course tasting menu on the first night, cooked by Dan, who served one of the courses. An absolutely amazing chef! We ate on the second night too because we loved it so much.
The staff (especially Tom and Emma) were brilliant! They were so attentive and friendly and couldn’t do enough for us!
Our room was lovely, with views of lake Windermere! Stunning!
Overall an absolutely fantastic stay, we didn’t want to leave. We will definitely return and would 100% recommend!

We’ve just returned from a fabulous one-night stay for our anniversary. The hotel is beautifully decorated, with great arts and craft original details everywhere you look. There were wonderful views from our room (room 3). Staff were friendly and the food was delicious. Fine dining at its best (we had the 8 course tasting menu).

We spent two nights here in two different rooms, the staff was very friendly and we were surprised twice as the rooms are amazing. The food is average with limited choices, but the rooms are nice and clean with good views, very comfy. The location is not that far from the city centre but the landscape and view are much more better than what you can find in other hotels near the city. We don’t have a car but taking taxi and bus are doable. I highly recommend to live here.

This was our first visit to the Lake District, upon arrival the hotel looked stunning with great views of the lake. We was met at reception by the manager Tom, he gave us a very warm welcome and tour of the grounds and showing us to our suite. He filled us with lots of information and nothing seemed too much trouble for him he even went that one step further and gave us itinerary for the week with the best places to visit.
The one negative we had about our visit was a couple of issues with our room one being the heating and the other being the TV, these were both rectified very quickly when we pointed these out (also would of been nice to have just a small table on the balcony whilst sitting their looking at the stunning views).
Breakfast was exceptional lots of choice and also you could make up your own nothing was too much trouble, our waiter Dan made our stay feel very special as he always had a big smile on his face was very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. We feel Dan will go a long way in the hotel industry given the right guidance by his manager.
Thankyou

We visited for an afternoon cream tea my wife had bought as a birthday gift. Wow, the food was just lovely, with our own private room with a delightful view of the langdale pikes. Highly recommend and will definitely be back.

This is our 6th time staying at Holbeck Ghyll and it never disappoints.
The personalised customer service you receive from Tom, is second to none. He is a true gentleman. Nothing is too much trouble and his attention to detail is excellent.
I would also like to mention Rowan who also delivered outstanding customer service during our stay.
We stayed at Ghyll Side Cottage with an unspoilt view of lake Windermere both from the floor to ceiling window and the jacuzzi. We also dined in the restaurant sampling the excellent value 5 course tasting menu. I would highly recommend this trying this menu if you get the chance.
Breakfast is always top quality with a beautiful view.
We will certainly be returning again, thank you again for a lovely stay.

We visited this hotel in the February half term and would have stayed longer had we have known how lovely it was.We stayed in one of the lodges and along with our Two dogs Ruby and Merlot we had a very enjoyable experience. We loved how they catered for the dogs with baskets blankets and biscuits for them on arrival. The staff were absolutely fab nothing too much trouble for them. We ate at the restaurant
and the food was first class and the red malbecj wine nicest I've had for a while. We will definitely return maybe spring or summer as the hotel grounds were gorgeous and views stunning. Thankyou Rob Michelle Ruby and Merlot.xh

We recently had a fantastic stay at Holbeck Ghyll, the views are incredible enough to warrant a stay on there own but the hotel, food and service are also absolutely wonderful.
Tom is a great host, really warm and friendly, you really get the feeling like he cares about making your stay as good as possible.
The food was amazing, had the 9 course tasting menu and it was brilliant, my fiancé is vegetarian and she was well catered for too. Was the second time we’ve been and can’t wait to get the hattrick in. Highly recommend!

Wonderful stay! Tom and the staff are exceptional. You feel welcome from the first minute and you’ll always be greeted with a big smile. The hotel is located up the hill which makes the view of the lake simply astonishing and utterly beautiful. I love the medium size hotel which makes you feel special with personalized attention and very good service. The best for the end: The 5-course dinner was incredible! Highly recommended. I had such very lovely time with my fiancé, we couldn’t have chosen a better place.

I had been a previous client of Holbeck Ghyll of some 14 years ago with fond memories. I decided to take my husband and friend to the Lakes for a day visit but found the crowds of Windermere too much. I risked spur of the moment a visit to the hotel for a peaceful beer, rest and reminisce with no prior booking. Apon arrival, we were greeted like special guests and upon our request for a casual drink and a small bite, they bent over backwards to make our short stay as memorable as it was 14 years ago. We ended up ordering a proper meal as it was so lovely. It was just as nice now as it was many years ago. The salmon was notch. Thank you Tom and your staff. Warm regards, Miranda, Darren and Sarah

Just perfect from start to finish.
Beautiful Junior Suite, staff friendly and cheerful, especially Emma, who served us at breakfast. Comfiest bed and pillows ever. View is picturesque, so quiet and peaceful. Easy access to places of interest. Would highly recommend.

We visited Holbeck Ghyll for afternoon tea and it was outstanding. The sandwiches were delicious - the salmon is smoked on site, the scones with homemade jam, cream and lemon curd were delicious, and the cakes were great. The service was excellent. Grab a table by the window for some spectacular views over lake Windemere!

We arrived here having booked 4 rooms and each one is unique and beautiful, all with excellent views.
We enjoyed drinks outside and the waiting staff were extremely attentive, and drinks were delicious.
We booked the 5-course taster menu with a few added extras for a party of 8, and the food was excellent. Every course was visually stunning and everything tasted fresh and extremely well-prepared. We eat in many restaraunts as a group, and this was an especially special experience.
I would like to extend our thanks to Tom and the rest of the team for an incredible experience, can't wait to return!

Choosing not to take advantage of the helipad myself and B opted to arrive more traditionally by car and as you turn into the drive way the rambling old country house reveals itself. It really is a calm spot, surrounded by wonderful gardens and countryside with a view over Windermere.

The food at the Holbeck Ghyll was good and packed a punch, but it lacked finesse to elevate it to an even higher level. For instance, turbot was delicious, but the beetroot that came with it, should have been cut in much smaller pieces, so that it doesn’t overpower the taste of the fish.<br/>
