Holbeck Ghyll

This was our first visit to the Lake District, upon arrival the hotel looked stunning with great views of the lake. We was met at reception by the manager Tom, he gave us a very warm welcome and tour of the grounds and showing us to our suite. He filled us with lots of information and nothing seemed too much trouble for him he even went that one step further and gave us itinerary for the week with the best places to visit. The one negative we had about our visit was a couple of issues with our room one being the heating and the other being the TV, these were both rectified very quickly when we pointed these out (also would of been nice to have just a small table on the balcony whilst sitting their looking at the stunning views). Breakfast was exceptional lots of choice and also you could make up your own nothing was too much trouble, our waiter Dan made our stay feel very special as he always had a big smile on his face was very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. We feel Dan will go a long way in the hotel industry given the right guidance by his manager. Thankyou

We visited this hotel in the February half term and would have stayed longer had we have known how lovely it was.We stayed in one of the lodges and along with our Two dogs Ruby and Merlot we had a very enjoyable experience.We loved how they catered for the dogs with baskets blankets and biscuits for them on arrival. The staff were absolutely fab nothing too much trouble for them. We ate at the restaurant and the food was first class and the red malbecj wine nicest I've had for a while.We will definitely return maybe spring or summer as the hotel grounds were gorgeous and views stunning. This is our 6th time staying at Holbeck Ghyll and it never disappoints. The personalised customer service you receive from Tom, is second to none. He is a true gentleman. Nothing is too much trouble and his attention to detail is excellent. I would also like to mention Rowan who also delivered outstanding customer service during our stay. We stayed at Ghyll Side Cottage with an unspoilt view of lake Windermere both from the floor to ceiling window and the jacuzzi. We also dined in the restaurant sampling the excellent value 5 course tasting menu. I would highly recommend this trying this menu if you get the chance. Breakfast is always top quality with a beautiful view. We will certainly be returning again, thank you again for a lovely stay.

We recently had a fantastic stay at Holbeck Ghyll, the views are incredible enough to warrant a stay on there own but the hotel, food and service are also absolutely wonderful. Tom is a great host, really warm and friendly, you really get the feeling like he cares about making your stay as good as possible. The food was amazing, had the 9 course tasting menu and it was brilliant, my fiancé is vegetarian and she was well catered for too. Was the second time we’ve been and can’t wait to get the hattrick in. Highly recommend!

Wonderful stay! Tom and the staff are exceptional. You feel welcome from the first minute and you’ll always be greeted with a big smile. The hotel is located up the hill which makes the view of the lake simply astonishing and utterly beautiful. I love the medium size hotel which makes you feel special with personalized attention and very good service. The best for the end: The 5-course dinner was incredible! Highly recommended. I had such very lovely time with my fiancé, we couldn’t have chosen a better place.

I had been a previous client of Holbeck Ghyll of some 14 years ago with fond memories. I decided to take my husband and friend to the Lakes for a day visit but found the crowds of Windermere too much. I risked spur of the moment a visit to the hotel for a peaceful beer, rest and reminisce with no prior booking. Apon arrival, we were greeted like special guests and upon our request for a casual drink and a small bite, they bent over backwards to make our short stay as memorable as it was 14 years ago. We had an amazing stay at Holbeck Ghyll from the moment we arrived and Tom, the ,manager/owner, met us in reception. We stayed in the Lansdale Suite which exceptional. The Chefs tasting menu off the charts and even thought it rained both days the grounds and views were stunning. Tom, Emma, Sarah, Fernando and Damian could not have been more attentive. Great history, wonderful service, excellent food and drink, what more would you want. Thanks Tom and team, truly memorable.
