The Greys Inn

Excellent cosy place in the center of Windermere, and with free parking too. The room I had was quite grand, located on the first floor. The heating was a bit insufficient, however I did not mind that. The innkeeper is a very friendly person, always on his toes to keep the guests well entertained. I had a full English breakfast here and that was excellent. The innkeeper told me they bought locally produced stuff to make the food. I think that definitely contributed to the taste. I will definitely visit this place again.

Very friendly, welcoming and helpful staff! Located in town with only a couple minutes walk in the centre. Rooms were clean and had a plenty of room for putting away belongings. Comfortable bed which meant a good night sleep. Reasonable price rooms in comparison to other B&B in the area. Great pubs and restaurants near by and only less than a mile away for Lake Windermere. Only negative was that in our room there was only a sliding door to the ensuite bathroom which could not be locked or shut. However, would recommend to other visitors!

Searching for a meal late on Sunday evening in Windermere - everywhere crowded plus we had our dog with us. 'The Grey Walls' pub promised a place to rest and chill, which was what we really needed, having driven 300 miles that day. Dogs welcome. It was perfect for our needs and we were still able to get a Sunday roast at that time. The meal was hot, tasty and good honest pub grub, reasonably priced. We sat in their'secret' outside area enjoying the cooler air and the sunset. Now this is no Ritz, but honest food, drinks which is what we were looking for. And we didn't have to sit amongst the traffic fumes like other dog owners were doing. Didn't get 5 stars because the place could do with a make over, but the young lady who served us was efficient, helpful and above all, friendly! Many thanks!
