The Half Moon

We had a very enjoyable evening at the Half Moon restaurant, which had a lovely ambience and a roaring fire. The food was very tasty with the exception of one dish, however the waiter (the tall lovely, funny guy) dealt with this very professionally and recovered the issue quickly to our satisfaction. We will most certainly be going back to this great pub for the food, ambience and excellent customer service.

We visited The Half Moon as a family of four on 15/10/23. We enjoyed a very good Sunday roast, the chicken, pork belly and beef are certainly some of the best roasts on offer in the local area - the food quality is very good & the homemade ‘yorkie’s’ are a triumph ! In addition, the choice of starters and desserts was fabulous. They kindly packed a dessert to take home as we were sufficiently ‘stuffed’ (no pun intended) from the main meal. I’d recommend this venue for anyone looking for a quality Sunday lunch.

After a poor experience a few weeks ago, Ben apologised and kindly invited us back to try again. Wow, what a difference, excellent food and service this time. For my taste, the starters were limited and the only thing that I could contemplate was the Pea soup (I’m not usually a fan). However, I’m so glad I gave it a go, piping hot and delicious. The chicken escalope was amazing and in my opinion was far better than its counterpart at the Ivy!! Shared a sticky toffee pudding which was also very good. If they maintain the same levels of service and food quality, they’ll be on to a winner. We will definitely be back, which was definitely not the case after our previous visit.

Sat outside for lunch. Mussels and burger were nice but not excellent. When I went up to get a drink my food was taken before I had finished which was a shame but not a massive deal. Tom Morley was delightful, he was very knowledgeable about the cocktails and even recommended different drinks to complement my food all with a welcoming smile.

We sat outside under the canopy on a warm summers evening, and we all thought it was a lovely atmosphere. The staff were friendly and very attentive. The food was fine, although I ordered the prawn and crab starter and was disappointed that there was no bread with it. It was a limited menu, but I kind of like that - it suggests that what they do is going to be good. They had some local beer and the wine seemed ok. Would definitely go there again.
