Fifty Six

I'd give this place six stars if I could. Fifty Six is Berkshire's best-kept secret, with its unassuming facade and quiet sophistication a big part of its charm. On top of its excellent food, drinks, and atmosphere, the service during my visit was outstanding. Amy in particular was very good-humoured and attentive. Looking forward to my next visit!

We love this place. We had been to a restaurant in town and rang up on the off chance at 10.30pm to see if they had a table. They did and we stayed until closing. Great wine menu, love The Guvnor red, delicious! Lovely, friendly, accommodating staff, relaxed atmosphere, good music, pretty outside area, tasty food. What's not to like?

I like it here because its got a nice intimate atmosphere and whenever I have been the drinks and food have been very good. You book your table so social distancing is easy and the staff are helpful and accommodating. Last time a I went I shared the baked Camembert which is baked with garlic and rosemary and is served with crusty brown and white bread. It was delicious. We also had the large sharing platter which had houmous, crudités, Olives, flat breads and cured meats. Also delicious. If you like red wine I highly recommend trying the Romanian pint noir on the menu, it was very moreish. I definitely recommend it.

Great place, lovely wine, with big balloon wine glasses, which you don't usually find in pubs. The food was great, , cheese board, meats, breads. Great evening. Just remember you only have a table reserved for 2 hours, we had to be moved into the bar as wine was still flowing but the table time had run out. They did accommodate us so no big deal.
