Ocean Fish Bar

Best first and chip shop ive had in years. Food was tasty and crispy. We called ahead and asked for extra crispy chips and the man was so friendly and accommodating. Usually when I order fish and chips they come soggy and considering it was far away it was hot and delicious. Nuggets were better than McDonalds. Highly recommend.

Delicious! Perfect spot, opposite the lovely North End Tavern. Grabbed a cheeky cod and chips on my way home. My first impression is that it was very clean. The staff were just lovely and chatty, and the footie was on a small screen. I was told food would take about 7 mins. Brilliant! Obviously the food is fresh. Was still lovely and hot when I got home. The whole thing was delicious. Lovely light crisp batter too. It was £7.50 for a cod, and £2 something for chips. This can be expected with inflation unfortunately and the rising prices of gas and electric. However it was worth it. Would definitely go back!

Had cod and chips from here this evening. We usually opt for a charcoal grill for takeout but fancied a change and I’m so glad we tried here. On first looks I almost didn’t go in, it looks run down and a bit shoddy but i couldn’t get parking near the other fish and chip shop down the road. I didn’t need to worry though the staff were nice and welcoming. Told me they are new and been here 6 months. The fish was battered so nicely - crisp and fresh and the cod was tasty and fresh. The chips also tasted delicious & were hand cut. 100% this will now be our regular shop. I’m very fussy with takeout - don’t let the shop front put you off the food it great.

We were so impressed with this place -and lucky they were so busy as when we found them it was 40 min after closing, not that you could tell by the attitudes of the guys working! The guy serving is such a nice guy and good at talking with people (and at customer service.) The food was perfect- hot and freshly cooked to order and they were very accommodating of checking ingredients. (I’m a pain in the arse, thank you for looking!) Delighted to finally find a pineapple fritter with no dairy. Spring roll is a proper chip shop spring roll, and they even had battered Mars bars! Everything looked, smelled and tasted great. Good value and portion sizes, too. They have a lot of choice on the menu and are exactly what we’d been looking for since our previous chippy closed. They’re new but hopefully they’ll be around a long time. Absolutely worth trying.
