My partner and myself booked this restaurant for our first night in York. This is the second time we have been to York and a few days before we arrived I Googled best Italian restaurants in York as we didn’t managed to find one we were really happy with last time. The whole booking process was easy, the website was beautiful and the ceiling decoration photos looked stunning. We walked from our hotel and realised it was just round the corner from our favourite bar The Botanist. The exterior was beautiful and the interior was like something out of Paris - stunning! Once seated I put my coat on the chair next to me until I saw the waitress offered to take the coats of the couple next to us. I then asked if she would be ok to take mine which she did. We the. ordered half cheese and half tomato garlic bread to share for our starter along with a cocktail and a beer. Unfortunately our garlic bread arrived and I had to chase my drink - I then found out they were out of ingredients but I chose another and this quickly arrived. Both myself and my partner said that it was the best garlic bread we have ever had. The passion fruit cocktail was equally as beautiful. I chose penne arrabiata for my main without meat and my partner had the meat balls. I usually struggle with arrabbiata as restaurants sometimes put too much chilli in - however, this was perfect. Everything from the ambiance to the food and drink was absolutely breath taking. It is safe to say this will be our go to restaurant whenever we return to York - my favourite Italian restaurant to date!
Thanks for an amazing meal tonight! My friend and I enjoyed a three course delight and a glass of prosecco each! Lovely food and lovely staff! Xx
Italian at its best, the best 100 miles around York! Sorry Jamie....but it is better than yours. Food is excellent to superb! Desert 5 out of 5 too. We had 4 different dishes and none had any fault, though some say sea food pasta goes only with tagliatelle! Need to work out the espresso machine, it does not make favours. The atmosphere is warm and intimate, waiters are friendly, listening to any comment and very prompt. We had the lasagna, the duck, sea food pasta and haddock risotto. The desert was also varied and excellent t, but the best came the toffee pudding. Wine we had the merlot, decent priced for a restaurant.
It was my second visit here. And this time was better than previously. Food was good. Service friendly.
This place can cater large groups and the only thing I did not enjoy was the noise! Very difficult to have a conversation.
Absolutely stunning food, fantastic service and a really impressive GF selection. Can sometimes be very difficult to dine out when you're gluten free as a lot of the menu is restricted however Gusto has gone to great extents to ensure the majority of the menu has alternative options. I love it here and will definitely be back again - alot!
The food was good. Friendly staff, but a bit slow when it gets crowded (at noon for instance).
Had their 3-course lunch for 16 pounds
Great decor, ambience was fitting and the food was really worth the money. The staff members were chatty and wasn’t shy of making conversation and taking out coats.
My first visit here and this is a great Gusto restaurant. Staff were very friendly and looked after us well. A good selection of drinks that were well made. The bar staff were very efficient. The food was lovely, both in presentation and taste. There is a nice ambience inside too
Fantastic food, lovely atmosphere and the service was great. Attentive staff but not pushy.
Vibrant and buzzing. Great atmosphere and food to match. Staff were friendly and attentive. Definitely recommend.

Very cosy and romantic restaurant. Food and service was great. We had our first wedding anniversary here and it was a perfect dinner for the special occasion.
