Delicious food in a nice atmosphere. A great spot to stop for lunch after touring York Minster. We were told to grab any table and order at the bar. Service was quick and friendly. The food was tasty and of good quality with big portions. The interior is clean and well designed.
Wish I had discovered this place sooner in my four years of trips to York! We dined here for lunch one day and came back later in the week for dinner & pub quiz. They offer a solid pub menu with prices better than most in the area. The food …
Venue itself was lovely, staff seemed so too. Such a shame about the food. 16 pounds for 9 mediocre chunky chips and burger was depressing, shame since the burger itself was decent. Chicken served to my colleague was so dry that the concept of moisture must have been absolutely foreign to it. Pass.

Popped in for a drink and food, not been in before. Friendly staff, very good selection of beers and lagers. Great looking building nice decor in keeping with its age. Sat in the window in 2 large winged fireside chairs.. Very comfortable.
The food and drinks here are unbelievable, super tasty. I recommend the Steak and Ale pie and the sticky toffee pudding. A bit pricier than other pubs in York that serve food, but it's worth the price in my opinion. The ambiance inside is great for chatting, having a pint and relaxing with friends.
Loved the food, shame my first preference sold out but some very tasty dishes and just the best steak pie! Great to see chips actually home made too. …
