Wackers Fish And Chip Restaurant

Established fish and chip restaurant and takeaway. As I had to transport my haddock and chips some distance it would be unfair to give a full review as it got steamed in the container. Nevertheless they were tasty, batter not too thick and all nicely cooked, seemed good. Will give a proper review another time.

Nice friendly staff. My husband enjoyed his giant haddock, chips, mushy peas & bread and butter. I had chicken nuggets chips and mushy peas. I would have preferred a chicken burger but they only do beef burgers, or veggie burgers. The chips & peas I enjoyed but the chicken nuggets are a bit processed

Love Wackers! Been a fan since going to the Scarborough branch before we had one in York. Lovely fish and chips, great service, friendly staff. Actually like the restaurant as it's spacious and I don't feel on edge if I take my 5 and 3 year old as it's big, so your not bumping into other diners. Thumbs up Wackers. We will be back.

Enjoyed the fish and chips very much. Very good quality. It was suprisingly very quiet when visited on a Saturday teatime. Not sure why as the food was very good and reasonably priced for York. The decor inside is very traditional '1990's' (I don't think it has really changed much from when it first opened) and maybe this is what puts people off ?!? Shame, as the food was very good.

We came across Wackers on a family visit to York before the end of the school holidays. A warm welcome from the lady at the till who advised us to choose a seat and then come up to the till to order when we were ready. My husband chose the medium haddock meal deal and was able to swap his mushy peas for curry. I chose the homemade lasagne which didn’t disappoint! The portions were big and well worth the money. They also offer ‘kids eat free’ for every main meal purchased so our two children (6 and 4) got their meals for free which was a bonus! The staff were very friendly, the place was very clean. Thank you for an enjoyable visit Wackers- we will definitely be back!
