Delightful ambiance. Cosy with a knowledgeable and friendly staff that can guide you through their wine selection course by course as you go. Lewis was our sommelier and he was fabulous. We have a decent wine knowledge and yet we still got some excellent recommendations for wine we didn’t know as well. If you’re in York and enjoy exploring wine, this is the place to come. The Burrata was excellent as was the Lamb Salami.

Absolutely brilliant. Great atmosphere, and great food! Along with the classic Margherita, the menu features many unique options. I went for the Ottolenghi, which had creme fraiche, smoked cheddar, mushrooms, pistachio pesto, and preserved lemon and was not disappointed! Paired very well with the chimichurri dip recommended by our waitress. The wine list, as you'd expect, was extensive and had many great options, along with a rotating selection found on the blackboard. I will definitely be back soon!

Absolutely loved this place. The pizzas were beyond amazing. It's very small so you probably should book during busy times. We sat outside and we could see the Chef make the pizzas and it was fascinating to watch. We ordered one pizza at a time and it worked very well. Staff are very knowledgeable and very friendly.

The Cave du Cochon never fails to deliver on great service, knowledge and wine! The staff are exceptional helpful when it comes to picking the best wine for you. With just a few steering points, you'll soon have the glass you didn't know you needed!

A Topjaw recommendation, and so glad that my wife and I made a stop here on our visit to York. Cave du Cochon is a wine bar at its core, but also serves up a mean pizza/snack menu. We ordered the savoury macaron which was absolutely sensational. The macaron had a wonderful barbecuey, charred flavour with a velvety soft center, stunning both in taste and texture. We had the pizza next which was just as delicious. Wash that down with fine glasses of wine recommended by friendly staff. Happy days.

Wow. Feels like a wine bar in Bordeaux.
Staff were amazing, they spoke to us about the wine but it wasn't too pretentious. Sometimes in places like this I feel a bit silly sitting there while someone rattles off a script about the wine list. This wasn't like that, it was much more informal but still felt really smart.
We had a little bit of food as well which was also great.

Fantastic cosy restaurant in central York. Excellent choice of wine and brilliant staff to help navigate it. We had four glasses of wine and a pizza. Pizza was better than I've had for ages - the cheese on it was spectacular.

Delicious Rioja, both orange and white, and scrumptious macarons. Also, the staff were very friendly, helpful and explained interesting titbits about the wine. Highly recommended.

Great selection of wines. Very good service and lovely atmosphere. Not the cheapest place, but the prices are fair enough for what you get. Definately worth a visit (if you appreciate the wine).
