Wilko's Cafe York

If you need something, they probably have it! A great store. The pick and mix screws, bolts and washers is everymans dream. Garden bits are now out. Prices are very good. Easy to park with plenty of other shops around. Cafe is ok if you need a cuppa whilst shopping. Good range of pet and wild bird foods.

For some reason it feels like you're travelling back in time when you enter this store, the seventies comes to mind! All in all it has a large range of (modern) products available spread over quite a sizeable showroom. Prices, on the whole, seem very affordable when compared to larger supermarkets. It appeared that the main clientele were more elderly and this was especially the case in the cafeteria, at least when I visited. Staff were friendly and polite when approached with that all important smile. Thumbs up. Self service tills were somewhat outdated but worked efficiently enough; there were staffed tills available too. Worth a visit but could do with a little va-va-voom to breathe a little life into it both in atmosphere and shop aesthetics.
