Yeah, happy with the british food and drinks. Staff also very good, felt welcome. The music production sometimes a nightmare but did not spoil the overall experience

Never been to a Nicholson pub before as none in my area. Food was very good and the staff were excellent. Went in several times over a week as we were staying in York, each time was as good as the last.

We popped in for a couple of drinks at lunchtime on a Friday.
We didn't eat here.
Great selection of really good cask ales and lots of gins
Staff were very friendly and it had a nice atmosphere, as it was full.
It's worth going in for a drink just to look at the architecture of the building as well.
Will use this pub again when in York.

Fabulous pub, looks amazing and lovely staff. Didn't eat only because we were with friends who had already eaten, but we have eaten here before and it was good quality pub food, well cooked. Will definitely be back!

We used to visit regularly years ago but have only just returned. We popped in for lunch and on the first occasion we had coffees and hubby had sausage and mash whilst I opted for macaroni cheese with sourdough pitta. Very nice.
We visited again two weeks later. Hubby had sausage again as he says it's amazing. I changed my mind at the last minute and had a pulled beef sandwich with chips. Next time it will be the sausage.

Standard pub and fare in the centre of York.
Stopped in for a quick pint.
The pub is housed in a beautiful building but the atmosphere is pretty standard.
Easy enough to stop in if you need someplace to go but nothing unique about it.

Has the blade of beef pie with glazed syrup carrots and clotted cream mash. The pastry was too thick. It was a blind date. Would definitely return for cocktails and sports night.
