After reading reviews, I expected to be blown away. Both the fish and chips were of good quality.
The chips were actually really nice and a great potato choice. The fish itself was good but the problem was with the batter. It was prepared too thick, not allowing it to cook through, so I was left with a layer between the fish and batter of stodgy, raw flour. Its a shame as the flavour of it was spot on, just too thick so wasn't able to cook through.
Service was excellent, the chap behind the fryer was fantastic with all customers and clearly had 100s of regulars as he knew everyone by name. Greeting every customer individually with a smile, which was great to see.
Other than my quibble with the batter, which by the looks of the reviews, was a one off - I will probably try again.
Everything is fairly priced too.

Been going here regularly, the portions are massive and super tasty. Never waited too long except on Fridays obviously. Fish cooked fresh. Pickled onions great too. Friendly owner and team.

I've eaten fish and chips all over the UK and this was the best so far. The fish was cooked to perfection. Tasty, fresh fish. The chips were the best I've ever ate in my life and the curry sauce was just as good. The customer service was amazing, nice to go into a take away and have a laugh with the owner.
