Fabulous place, good food at lunch time. We moored the boat up and walked through the garden. A return visit is called for.
First time visitor today. The staff were very welcoming and the open fire even more so. The food (ribeye steak) was delicious. Cooked to perfection. Thank you.
Lovely pub, dog friendly. Very good non-alcoholic drink options. My partner had the pork belly which he said was amazing, but my vegetarian toad in the hole was barely edible which is why I've given it 4 instead of 5 stars.
Really lovely place that you can moor upto on your boat too! Beer garden is just perfect and inside is lovely aswell. Food is delicious 😋
Came across The Dawnay Arms whilst visiting the area. Staff were very friendly, professional and accommodating. The atmosphere was warm and cozy. Lunch was wonderful. Best mushroom soup I have had. The seafood pancakes were delicious. My husband had the ploughman’s. A lovely selection of meat and cheeses. The bread was fresh, light and just perfect. Everything was served well and the food was hot. We were so impressed.
Amazing food, great service, visited with family on new years day and it was busy but we had a relaxing lunch. My 1yr old loved the risotto, the kids portion of fish and chips was huge but my 5yr had a good go at it and I had a fab venison pie.
Very cozy pub with delicious food and the view on the terrace is simply amazing!
Enjoyed a family lunch at the Dawnay Arms on Saturday afternoon. It was reasonably busy for a weekend lunch time, so we were seated in the dining room area. Between us we chose haddock & chips, chicken, ham & leek pie and a sandwich with fries. Everything came together, the food was delicious, fresh ingredients and generous portions (especially the haddock and chips!)
Excellent food again. Good beer and pleasant staff.
Special of venison and the prawns were particularly good.
Wow! Saw the signs on the way to Scarborough and thought we'd call in for food. So glad we did. Lovely homely pub. Friendly service and delicious home made food. Can't fault this place and will be our go to when in the area.
Just passing and decided to call in.
Just about to order food when the electricity failed. The chef came to apologise personally, however 2 minutes later back on!
My husband had the burger from the specials board, steak, bacon, black pudding and blue cheese.
He hates fat and luckily there was none to be found, he also said that the onion rings were the best he'd tasted. Home made chips.
I had the pie, full of meat and shortcrust pastry top and bottom, gorgeous.
We shared a very hearty brownie and ice cream, delicious.
The service was great. Even though they were very busy. Nothing too much trouble.
So pleased we called in and grateful for the electricity!
Lovely pub, the atmosphere was really nice, we visited a few days before Christmas so the place looked very festive. I had a venison dish from the special board, it was fantastic, but on the small side for me, if I had 3 courses I'm sure the main course would have been a good size, but it was £24 for the main so I thought it would have been a bit larger than it was. Would recommend.
