Order in advance if you can, this place sells out everyday, once you've been there its easy to understand why. Always shop here when im in the UK and take Kgs of fine quality uk butchery home with me

A lovely little butchers! We’ve sampled many of the quiches, pork pies and sausage rolls! All homemade and delicious!!

As a veggie I confess I couldn't have anything from here (even the cheese and onion quiche uses lard!). However, my friend tried one of their small pork pies and immediately went back for another 6. They lasted 2 days! And such distress that they don't deliver outside York! If you like pork pies, indulge yourself here!

The girls in your shop in York were lovely, very helpful and polite...great customer service. I bought Haslet which was totally yummy and Polony the like of which I have not tasted for years, Couldn't resist the Pease Pudding which was in a league of it's own. I will definitely be back to taste your pork pies

They certainly know how to make a pie! We bought them on consecutive days and really enjoyed them. The friendly service helps as well, very nice staff.

Without doubt, Appleton's sell the best pies I have ever tasted. Fillings are generous and flavoursome, and the pastry is always exceptional. And all this for a very reasonable price. While they are primarily a pork butchers (with their pork pies being great), their steak pies are truly amazing as you get big chunks of tender meat in a delicious, thick gravy within that fantastic pastry. And I'd also recommend the "Savoury Duck" (a big pork meatball, despite what the name suggests!).
So if you're hungry and wandering through York, I highly recommend stopping off at Appleton's!
