Belles Bouffe

Found this lovely place as I was walking to town centre. Decided to have breakfast....so very glad I did...excellent. The decor and displays are nicely placed. There were a fine selection of teas, jams and gift items for sale....I didn't purchase anything in this occasion. I definitely will come back on my next visit and take a few photos.

Nice tea room Staff pleasant nice atmosphere. Husband had mushroom soup and wheat bread. Very tasty. I had open salmon sandwich, plenty of smoked salmon nice pickled cucumber slices. Bara Bart and carrot cake both nice. Only gripe would have been nice to have hot water with tea. Agree a bit pricey but you pay for quality x

My husband I were in York for the Paul Weller gig.We went here for breakfast...ordered poached eggs,bacon and toast.Really tasty.Despite the negative reviews, we can say the total opposite. The owner came over to talk to us and made us very welcome.Everything is homemade so don't expect fast food service..it is worth that extra few minutes wait.

Lovely cafe! We had a delicious breakfast here. The owner was lovely and so friendly. We'd have happily gone back for lunch and dinner if we'd have been staying in York longer - the menu looked amazing. Really close to the Shambles and a short stroll from the Art Gallery and access to walk along the city walls.

Nice place where you can enjoy a good tea with homemade food such as their marmalade. It's cosy and comfortable if you are sitting next to the big table, maybe avoid the bench which is too high than the tiny tables on the side. However the environment is colorful and relaxing with a lots of initiative like book readings or some newspapers available on a basket for everyone. The two old ladies are doing their best to create a proper traditional tea/coffee room.

I had lunch here twice and the food was delicious and fresh. I really liked the ambience and decor and decided to have my 60th birthday party here. It was a fantastic evening, Carole had created a lovely, warm, relaxed atmosphere, the food was gorgeous, she provided lovely wines and we all had a really memorable evening. Belle's Bouffe deserves to be a place people head to when in York. And it's near York Theatre so is a great place for a pre-show dinner and glass of prosseco!
