The Bakehouse

I visited The Bakehouse this past weekend and had a fantastic experience! We ordered desserts at the counter and sat down at a table to enjoy them. The waitress brought us waters and was prompt to refill them and their specialty cinnamon latte was delicious! I had the chocolate mousse and it was heavenly - light, rich, and just super yummy. It was also fun to watch the bakers work in the kitchen through the big window that opens up to the seating area. My family will definitely be returning again so we can try out their lunch. We will be back soon!

Another unexpected surprise in Aberdeen! Was pleased to find place as my daughter and I were craving something sweet. Pretty good selection to choose from which made it hard to choose. Ended up getting 3 different things to split and were happy with our selections. Prices are reasonable for the quality you get. Look forward to the next opportunity to try something else when in Aberdeen again.

I have eaten here on several occasions, always wonderful! The “hostess” told us where to get a high chair for the child with us. WHAT?? Today, with new owners, we waited over 30 minutes for the order to be taken and were there over 2 hours, although eating only took a brief time. Salads were smaller than usual. My Chicken Caesar seemed to be missing all Caesar flavor. The chicken was good. My daughter had all of 6 small shrimp and had to ask for the feta cheese that was supposed to be on it. Large chunks of tomato and big slices of cucumbers which required a knife. I am saddened by the downhill slide we experienced today. I hope you improve, because I don’t think any of us in the full restaurant will be back.

First time there and absolute worse service that I have ever had (anywhere). The server ‘could not’ have moved any slower ... and it took ‘forever’ to get our food. There were only 2 other tables (we got there at 1:45) and it took over 30 minutes to get our food (burgers). I even heard the server talking negatively about me in the kitchen (I asked for onions – second time – for my burger). This is sad since I understand there is new ownership. I won’t be going back.

I hate to write a negative review, but I’m really disappointed in the $350 graduation cake we ordered. I will say that everyone at The Bakehouse was very nice and seemed to understand what I wanted. I sent a picture of what I was wanted and they portrayed through many phone calls that they could do it. The final look of the cake was close, but honestly seemed like an amateur, low quality version of what I showed them. Nothing about the cake really seemed like a professional bakery specializing in cakes. What pushed me over the edge to write this review was the cake wasn’t even good! We had three tiers, all different flavors. The top tier was red velvet with cream cheese frosting. Luckily I was the first to taste this layer because the frosting tasted rancid, sour, something went bad!! I had to throw the entire top tier out before serving the quests. I did everything they told me to when I picked the cake up the day before. (Refrigerate and take out 1hour before serving.) I had 60 guests, excluding the top tier that I had to toss, 6 pieces were eaten. Everyone I asked about the cake said it’s wasn’t very good. Yikes! Not something you want to hear when you put so much planning and money into a cake. I’m writing this review to hopefully warn a bride, this was a graduation cake, not nearly as special as someone’s wedding cake!
