I was surprised that it was such a good restaurant. It is in a heavy tourist area, yet the curries were quite nice and the atmosphere presented a pleasant evening. Would definitely go back.
This is the best Thai I have ever had!!
Authentic, great attentive friendly service without being overly, perfect sized portions, beautiful inside and reasonably priced.
We chose set menu for two with coconut rice
As a side note, having had such a great evening, I left an expensive bag behind, complete with usual items like purse, mobile etc in…(I don’t usually go out with this handbag for dinner which is how I didn’t notice leaving it behind) and as soon as they found it, they called me twice leaving a message.
There was a note on the door of the restaurant saying it was fully booked when we arrived at 0615 on a Monday evening. Anyway we went in and asked if you could have a table for 2 to have a quick meal. They were able to give us one that was free for 45 minutes.
We ordered two most common dishes, i.e. Phad Thai and Prawn Fried Rice. They came very quickly, less than 10 minutes after we placed the order. After numerous meals of fish and chips, sandwiches, burgers and the like, we finally got something that appeals more to our palate. Both the fried noodles and fried rice were very tasty. I liked the fried rice very much which was dry and warm and had no MSG (we don't agree with Uncle Roger to add MSG to fried rice).
The restaurant is in a nice historic building with a high ceiling on the second floor. Interior decoration is interesting with a not too exotic ambience. Overall a pleasant dining experience though we had to finish our meal in a rush as we have not made any reservation. Price-wise, we would say it's reasonable tourist pricing.
Hands down the best Thai food in the area and the service is top-notched! We are Thai and came up to Lake District for holidays. The owner/chef came out to greet us with a warm welcome. We will definitely be back.
Absolutely fantastic Thai food. Outstanding quality and taste, very authentic. Likely the best thai food both of us had experienced. Will be having again when we return to Ambleside! Attentive and friendly service and very very fast to serve perfectly cooked food.
Worth a trip!
Probably the best Thai restaurant we have been to for a very long time. A good selection of Vegetarian dishes, which can be lacking in many Thai restaurants. Everything cooked perfectly and beautifully presented. Great staff, friendly, polite and cheerful even though the restaurant was very busy both times we went. Prices exceedingly reasonable for the quality of the food. Would be there every week if it wasn't 250 miles from home.
Authentic Thai food in Ambleside! We had such a lovely dinner there. As a Thai, I can confirm it is authentic and exactly what you would get in Thailand. Great portion of dishes and great value!
We had Pla neung manao (fish fillet steamed/cooked and poured over with spicy & sour sauce). I was pleased with the size of fish fillet - it was good size and thickness. The fish was fresh and well cooked. The sauce got all the flavours you need and hit the spot if you like spicy food.
We also had Pad pong garee goong (prawn curry stir-fry). Delicious. Well seasoned. Good kick of curry. The sauce is well done, not too eggy, not too sweet, and not spicy.
Gai hor bai toey made a nice compliment to the meal. Nice and tender grilled chicken. We were pretty full though. If you're two people who don't eat much perhaps go for two mains to share with rice as a side, so you leave some space for dessert 😉
The staff were attentive and friendly. They were packed but I'm glad we got the table despite booking with short notice. Highly recommend!!
Excellent food. Highly recommend the Tiger Beef, delicious.
Lovely interior. Food was authentic and delicious. Good portions. Would come back if I lived nearby!
Having passed it many times but always opting for pubs and more Western cuisine in the Lake District, we thought we'd give Doi Intanon a try and found ourselves pleasantly surprised. We had a delicious chicken and pineapple curry and pad seyu shared between us and the sharing starter course for two, plus some lovely prawn crackers. We would definitely have gone for a dessert too, but we were absolutely stuffed so unfortunately we had to go without but we saw someone else eating the fried banana fritters and they looked lush. We will definitely be back! Make sure you visit this one though, not Jintana which is famously Ambleside's *other* Thai restaurant and known for being the worst in the village...
A top quality Thai restaurant, with plenty of delicious options for a very reasonable price. The staff were really helpful and friendly, and the food was absolutely exceptional, some of the best Thai food I’ve ever tried and I’ve been to Thailand!
