Excellent. Good vfm. Perfect venison
DynamoD. Hope the change of ownership does not affect the atmosphere here!
If you like our desserts, you haven't experienced anything until you have been to Lucy's. I cannot recommend them highly enough.
This is the second time we’ve been to Lucy’s and once again another great meal from start to finish. We started with the belly pork (nice but for £10 we both thought it was overpriced for the portion size),I had the chicken dish which as you can see in photos, comes in a decent portion sized, lovely sauce, lovely flavours. I then had sticky toffee pudding with ice cream to finish. The toffee sauce was delicious, couldn’t get enough!. My partner also had the belly pork start, ribeye steak with chunky chips (he said it was on par to miller and carters steaks - he’s fussy with his steaks and how they’re cooked!) and salted caramel mess for pudding (all gluten free). We love Lucy’s as they cater for many dietary needs and we’ve never had a bad meal. Staff were quick, friendly and attentive. Atmosphere was nice, chilled, relaxed with a nice selection of music in the background.
We chose Lucy's as they served gluten free, the two course early bird dining was lovely, choice on the menu was great, my partner had the venison , and I chose the chicken in Parma ham, desserts were so nice too brandy mousse, and a salted caramel Eton mess ...
We went as a large group for a special occasion. Lucy's made a special menu for our group, which was a great touch. We had a special menu too. They even had some South African type dishes on the menu which made it extra special, since some of the group were from South Africa
You definately need to book for Lucy's but it was worth it. I popped in during the day early in the week and booked for 6pm on Thursday. When we arrived there seemed to be some confusion if we'd booked or not, but we're shown to our table. As we had arrived at 6pm this seemed to be an issue for the menus which weren't yet printed off (didn't arrive until 6.25) but no bother we were in no rush and had a drink at the table. Kids had good choice on the food daughter had make your own pasta and the eldest had the chicken with chips - (they ate everything!) We both had the lamb cutlets which were outstanding, melt in the mouth and fall off the bone good. Washed down with a White Rioja (recommended) we finished with sticky toffee pudding which was divine. The staff were friendly and we enjoyed our meal. Had to pay at the till rather than the table afterwards but definately would go back - some if the nicest food in Ambleside.
Food and staff excellent. Only complaint is that we waited an hour for our main after finishing our starter. Great atmosphere and attention to detail with regards to menu.
Lucy- the restaurant’s owner cares for everything, hangs coats for every guests, gives a big smile and writes a different stories in menu every day. Lovely food as well
Lucy's on a plate is a superb restaurant that we don't get visit often enough. The food is amazing and the staff are great. If you are visiting Ambleside, book a table if you can, you will not be disappointed!
On arrival our table was not ready and we were slightly abandoned. A drinks order was taken but did not arrive until a reminder was given when we got to be seated 10 minutes after arrival. Very chaotic on arrival with people arriving and leaving and nowhere to wait. Saying that once we were seated our order was taken promptly by an excellent waitress, the food arrived soon after and was absolutely delicious. Atmosphere was good and appeared to be a popular venue. Would definitely recommend if you are in Ambleside.
Very welcoming, great service, fantastic food! Will be back. Must not forget to book in advance 😁
Perfect dining experience! Everything was 100% food was cooked perfectly, every staff member we spoke to was extremely attentive and friendly. Would highly recommend dining here. We will be back on our next visit.
