We visited WABI SABI a week ago expecting a delicious meal. What we actually got was extraordinary.
Melt-in-your-mouth wagyu beef, a seabed sculpture made from tempura langoustines, delicate clams in an exquisite broth, and then the best part of all...miso-glazed black cod. Sweet, smoky, meaty - we all agreed (even our chef friend), that it was one of the best things we'd ever tasted. Then for dessert we had an incredible matcha tiramisu with fermented rice ice cream that I'm still dreaming about.
Perfect service, the finest ingredients and Michelin quality food. We will be talking about this place for many years to come.
Brilliant restaurant..exceptionally friendly, fantastic food the 'chrystalised' chilli oil is unique to this place...would buy it by the jar if I could...and they're so dog friendly...brought our pooch a couple of biscuits on a plate with napkin & her own water bowl...lovely touch. Highly recommend it.
What an absolutely outstanding gem of a restaurant. One of the best meals we have enjoyed in a long time. Service was flawless and thoughtful. The setting unexpected. If you find yourself in Ambleside be sure to stop in. The only slight flaw was the ramen noodles were too salty but that did not stop us from enjoying the meal immensely.
The plating was beautiful, with much thought and preparation for each dish.
They even brought over fresh wasabi and grated it tableside. I honestly have not been this taken aback at a restaurant in some major cities. If I could I would give them 10 stars.
The most exquisite 4 course meal I have ever eaten. Immense compliments to the chef, the presentation of every single item placed infront of us was divine and satisfied the aptly named 'Wabi-Sabi' (meaning natural imperfect beauty) aesthetic that they promote. A wonderful atmosphere paired with fantastic food in every aspect leaves me yearning for more. I will definately be back to Ambleside possibly just for this resturant.
Sensational experience. We had the Imagination tasting menu which was one of the most amazing meals i have ever had - beautiful presentation, divine flavours and incredible imaginative dishes. Can't wait to return and perhaps try their Ramen! Such a talented chef and his lovely wife is the most attentive and wonderful host. Best restaurant in Cumbria.
Wow! What a find! We bounced from place to ever increasingly busy place in Ambleside in January and had no luck finding a table, but then we spotted an open sign on an unassuming restaurant. Hungry and hopeless we stepped in a quiet and intimate eatery and had one of the best plates of food I’ve had in a long time. The beef ramen was rich and full of flavour. The black lager too was super tasty. Well worth a visit
Absolutely beautiful! Absolutely faultless!! We had sushi and our friends had the ramen which was also extremely tasty! Can't wait to come back for another fantastic meal!
A HIDDEN GEM!!! We had an amazing experience on both of our visits on consecutive days. First, we had the imagination sample menu which is a 5-course dinner. The taste and presentation was out of this world! Second, we had the winter ramen menu. Two of us ended up ordering total 3 ramen because it was so delicious! Service was outstanding. Thank you for the wonderful dining experience we will never forget :)
Excellent food, beautifully presented. Service impeccable. Highly recommend for a special occasion. Reservation in advance essential as the food is freshly prepared to your pre-chosen tasting menu.
Everything was great, the waitress was really kind and polite, food was amazing amd the atmosfere is really relaxing! Good job
Absolutely amazing, we had such an lovely evening and the food is out of this world. Everything has been thought of down to the last detail and it was such a fantastic experience - especially the surprise dessert! ありがとうございます Wabi Sabi!
Delicious, interesting Japanese fusion food. Beautifully presented dishes that let the quality of the ingredients shine through, paired with friendly professional service by the owner. Felt like being in a small home-run restaurant in Japan but themed to the Lakes. I liked that they take risks with the food - every dish was unique both in flavour and presentation. Would wholeheartedly recommend for a special evening out.
